Helen Noel 42nd Anniversary (+ 1 week) Thread!

I wasn't shocked. This was the 1960s. It was probably more common than we'd like to think in our more sensitive and P.C. era.

It was also largley the 'end' of that era of 'casting', at least in as how dominant and expected it was. As we know, the 'casting couch' continued in Trek's legacy all the way up through Enterprise, though... probably one of Trek's sadder legacies.

But it was a casting decon chamber by that time. :borg:

After an afternoon with Brannon Braga in ANY capacity I'd probably want to be stuck in a sterile biodome for a week.

How do we "know" this?

Where are you getting this from? With Roddenberry I could believe it considering all that has been written, but I think you are making this up when you say it has gone all the way through Enterprise.

Jolene Blalock was pretty damning about it, rather publically, a few years ago (there was a scandal involving her and Berman which was basically ended by her going public on his ass). And, of course, the legacy of Jeri Ryan is pretty damning as well, (particularly when mixed with the grotesque fiasco which oddly ended with Obama's rise to the senate.. go fig.)

So, yeah, sadly, it was still a part of Trek as of Enterprise. We'll probably find out if it's in the reboot too soon enough...

I've always maintained that she was the hottest guest star EVER on ANY Trek, but for some reason my mind's eye does not want to add fourty two years and one week to that lovely frame.

Edit: Also, I don't know if it's been mentioned, but she was also Fredo Corleone's drunk abusive wife in The Godfather Part II.

On the TOS chick-hotness scale, Noel is my second favorite.

Nona (Nancy Kovak) being my first.

Vance- Do you have any links to the Blalock story?
Also- I'm not getting the reference to Obama. How is Obama connected to Blalock?
Thanks

It was posted HERE when it came up, but I can't find it at the moment. (Blalock is a fairly outspoken person about such things, though...)

Jeri Ryan's previous husband was Senator Ryan, who had to vacate his seat because of a sex scandal during their divoce. Jeri Ryan, of course, was divorcing him because SHE was cheating on him with the producer of Voyager.

The appointee of the senate seat? Barack Obama.

(Before I get hammered on this one, Obama was very briefly an appointee - the Republicans had a rediculously bad run-off race and the seat was largely just handed to him.. but, yes, Star Trek Voyager more or less gave us President Obama.)

Thanks Vance.
I (unfortunately) live in Illinois. When the whole Ryan debacle was going on here, it was said that they got divorced because Jeri was upset when he wanted to have sex with her in front of other people at a swinger's club.

I searched online and couldn't find anything about Blalock or any of the newer Trek series women facing a casting couch. Anyway, thanks for responding to my questions. I really appreciate it.

That is some ugly information, Vance. That's why I don't care to look too deeply into the background of the show. Some of the folks were far less than savory.

Anyway, Helen Noel, very hot, but I always had a massive crush on T'Pring, Shaana, and Losira.

Oh that pout. She could have sucked the chrome off a 57' chevy with those lips. Rand was a sex addict. Didn't Piller write a sexy screenplay called 'The Casting Couch'? or did I get that wrong.
