..and it hasn't even aired. Why, you ask? Well, this morning I saw an ad for it. In it, there is this narration done by Prof. X (worst voice of Prof. X I've heard. But I digress). I'm parphrasing, but he says something like this: "Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, was once the leader of the X-Men, until his heart was broken by the one he loves. blah blah blah.." I then just about threw up in my mouth. There could have been any number of less contrived ways to move Cyke out of the picture and make Wolverine the centerpiece that I might have bought. He could have quit because a mission he was leading lead to the deaths of innocent civillians or a team member or two. He could have grown disillusioned with Prof. X's Dream and decided to strike out on his own or, even worse, join Magneto. But to have him hang it all up over a girl like some emo brat is just [drunken John Wayne]re-goddamn-diculous[/drunken John Wayne]. What's he going to be doing while the rest of the X-Men are out saving the world? Sitting in his bedroom with the walls covered with Joy Divison posters listening to the Smiths and composing bad poetry like " The black abyss consumes my heart while my ruby quarts lens burns with the fury of a thousand suns". It seems like Scott can't get a break either in the movies or the new show. I wish they'd just give Wolvie his own ultra violent, fanboy heavy series on FX or HBO and give us longtime X-fans a series much like the comic series X-Men: First Class. But this isn't an ideal world. So we are stuck with the umpteenth version of Wolverine And His Amazing Friends.
