What is your favourite work of art?

Auguste Rodin's The Eternal Idol has been one of my favourite for a long time.

I have a postcard with a better angle, but this will have to do.
I have outgrown this taste, and I have more admiration for other works of art, but this piece has remained with me, probably because of the well-photographed black and white postcard that has followed me everywhere I've lived.

I think we all have one like that. What's yours?

Undine Rising from the Waters (just because she is entrancing). Second would be Ferguson's "Knotted Wye" (which was a piece at the Geometry Center when I worked there and is now on display at the University of Minnesota's Mathematics Library).

I don't know much about art but I know what I like.

And this?

This I like.

Can I get a Christmas ornament version of it?

I know it's kind of clichéd, but I always loved Munch's The Scream.

I find it very difficult to play any favorite game, I don't have top ten lists of stuff I like and the only music I play again and again and again are SciFi OST's

I did however have a lot of images flash before my inner eye when I read the thread title; Rodin was there, so was van Gogh and a few of the Skagen painters, like P. S. Krøyer;

My entire collection of printed sequential art (I think the anglo term is graphic novels -don't confuse with 'comics') also had plenty room; Pratt, Shuiten, Franquin (yes, he belongs there!)

But the one single piece of art I always seem to come back to is Fallingwater by the great US-American artist Frank Lloyd Wright:

Drawn for and into the landscape, build with local materials - I think this is my 'favourite work of art'!

I like the idea of that house, but after I visited it, I decided I would hate to live there.

^Funny you should say that; I'm not very impressed about the interior myself, possibly just because it's a bit dated though.
