Since the only reason I'd possibly be given the Death Penalty would be if an oppressive faction took over the United States and wanted me out of the way for advocating Freedom and Human Rights, I'd take the firing squad without a blindfold so I could die staring the enemy in the eye, defiant to the last.
I can't believe i'm the only one that chose drowning. I mean come on, you don't even suffer until your lungs run out of Oxygen and then it's only mere seconds of being unable to breath that you pass out from lack of Oxygen thus you will die whilst unconscious. You suffer for mere seconds and it's technically not even pain, you're just unable to breath.
Have you ever been underwater nearly too long? Your lungs burn for air, its verypainful. And you don't die solely from being unable to breath, you drown because you breathe water into your lungs when the reflex to inhale overcomes your concious control. It's a pretty horrid and fairly slow way to die really. Chop off my head definitely. Even if your head lives as the stories say, the instant massive drop in blood pressure would hardly make you particularly coherent for your 3 or 4 seconds of life.
Firing squad. Not the quickest probably, or the least painful, but surely the most dignified. But the stake would be much more in character for me, along the lines of Giordano Bruno.

None of them are appealing. I think the least worse would be guillotine and firing squad. Of the two, the firing squad is more dignified (but possibly more painful). I'd want to die standing up though, so I go with firing squad and hope that they make it quick.

Unless the firing squad missed every vital organ, it would be a slow and painful death wgile you bleed out. Unless your one of the last of a very long list of executed people that day. It may take a couple of times to cut your head off. Now that wouldn't be too bad, i wish that was an option.
