They're going to rape Indy some more? Please god no.
For those not knowing, it's a south park reference in which I kind of agree with.
Mark my words, when, not if, but
when they make another Indiana Jones film it will be with a younger actor, because it will take a number of years (More than 2 years from now, because we know Spielberg and Lucas won't be making an announcement next January for another production for a 2010 summer release.) before we see another Indiana Jones film.
Harrison Ford is 66 years old, and the math alone dictates that we won't be seeing a 70+ Indy doing the action and stunts a man half his age does, unless he takes up the Sean Connery role from
The Last Crusade and passes the hat and the whip to a younger actor (Probably not Shia, but someone as equally rugged and charismatic as Ford.).
Ford proved to all of the naysayers in the last film that "he's still got it," and he really has nothing else to prove to the public, and he doesn't have to, whether financially or by choice.
Besides, we have already seen another Indiana Jones with Sean Patrick Flannery in an official Lucas production, so this idea of replacing Ford is not inconceivable.
But, next time it will be a title without the "Young" in front of it.
James Bond was recast, and they even went and did the "unthinkable" and recast James T. Kirk. I would not bat a lash if Hollywood recast Rocky Balboa, John Rambo, John McClane, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa for future generations. If it can be done, you can bet Hollywood will find a way for it to be done, as it always has.
