Children in Need 2008

Has any plot info leaked out? Like how does this faux Doctor have a sonic screwdriver and why does he say "alonzee" (or however that's spelled)?

On the clip it's clear that the other "Doctor" has a normal screwdriver in his hand at the end.

ive watched it a few times I dont think you ever get a good look
If you pause it on the bit where they give each other that funny little look at the end, it's obvious it's a philips head screwdriver

Sorry, just looked again and it appears to be a flat head screwdriver, not a philips.

Sometimes I get these little moments of epiphany... and today, something tells me the 10th Doctor stumbled onto some kind of "Doctor Who" movie set!

There was an old Star Trek short story like that, where the real crew was transposed with their actor counterparts.

interesting, but would they not stop shooting when a stranger works on to set?

Perhaps you're right. All I know is that this 2 minute scene has been bugging me ever since I saw it. I'm not English, but the christmas scene was just too... "nice", felt very staged. Little details were off like chubby black kids running around with chubby white kids, the kid who talked to the Doctor replying, "Are you thick or something?". Not sure, but I don't think "thick" implied "dumb" in 1851.

Furthermore it doesn't make any sense for someone in 1851 to know minutiae about the Doctor, like allons-y. Not unless he's from a more advanced civilization who's had contact with the Doctor. My first thought was that this faux doctor was some kind of time traveller, but I could only think up complex reasons like this time traveller needed to frighten another time traveller. I like occam's razor, and I couldn't dream up any simpler reason why anyone would need to fake the Doctor in 1851. And of course, there's the philips screw driver. Surely, a time traveller who would fake the Doctor would get a better prop?

Any how, the two threads clicked in my head.. unless we're NOT in 1851, its actually contemporary England and with the power of the Net curious people, specifically curious television producers who wanted to know more about Atmos and Daleks could stumble upon the Doctor mythology (just like Rose did) and decide to make a movie about it.

a TV show or movie based on Doctor Who is possible, Mickey could write some fiction, or someone could find the Journal of Impossible things and use that as there guide, I just dont think that is what is happening here.

As to why is this man pretending to be the Doctor in 1851, I actually wouldnt be surprised if he is from the future in some way.

In one of the NSA books, (The Stealer's of Dreams) a TV show is created based on the Doctor, but under the name of Hal Gryden, based on the 9th Doctor.
