Official Trailer Review & Comments Thread!! [Spoilers, of course]

Oh this is awesome! *happydance*

I love the music.
Brian Tyler is awesome! He also apparently did two episodes of Enterprise, although the music was apparently reedited by Michael Giacchino (the guy who's doing the film) for this trailer. I'm going to have go check out my Children of Dune soundtrack to see if I can find the track that they used.

Maybe young Kirk's car is a 20th century relic souped up for his own time? We know from the later movies and TV shows that fossil fuels were more or less an archaic thing of the past by the time of First Contact and humanity's first real steps into the cosmos, so maybe Kirk's car is a 20th or early 21st century sportscar souped up to use a hybrid, cleaner fuel source?

I would imagine so, yeah. And you have to imagine 23rd century Iowa agriculture would include a lot of high tech organic recycling, so it might not be too far a stretch to think you could make gasoline yourself out of farm waste. Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_depolymerization.

WOW!!!!! That was extreme, I'm so excited!
I been Star Trek Cold turkey for a while, this trailer has bought back the hunger... I'm watching my fav TOS episodes as I type. :D

With 40 pages, there's no hope of checking, but has anyone pointed out that Kirk barely knows what an automobile is, let alone know how to drive, as an adult? (A Piece of the Action).

Also, JJ has said there will be cries of "heresy!" What do you bet that they will do a "Jim Phelps" with Captain Pike in some similar manner in which Ethan Hunt got the job on Mission Impossible?

After watching the trailer a couple of times now, and having just seen it while watching T:TSCC , I think I am slightly more impressed with it.

I still remain "cautious" around this movie about getting too excited about it or getting to disapointed in it/angry over it.

But my gut is telling me that J.J. was wrong for the franchise as it's just... I dunno "mucking things up." The look and tone of the trailer and the movie in it just doesn't seem to "fit" Trek. We've yet ANOTHER look for the Connie-class, we've got giant starships being built... on the ground?! It's just... I dunno not "sitting right" with me.

I will, of course, reserve final judgement for actually seeing the movie but I dunno right now it's just an uneasiness in my stomach. Right now it looks like it'll be hard to fit this movie into the rest of the franchise.

If it's a human, it looks to be rather hard to breathe and see with that thing covering the whole face. Why would a human need, or want, that? Is the air that bad?
Exactly. I could buy the argument that it's just a guy with a helmet on if the headpiece wasn't so complex. But it's not. I say it's a cyborg.

I hope it is, at least. A cyborg cop would be so much cooler than a human cop.

:borg: > :)

Wow... seriously...

It's got a friggin breather mask on people. He's riding a high velocity hovercycle. I really can't wait for this movie to just come out...
Wow, you seem pretty sure of yourself.

Care to tell me how the rest of the movie is?

Nice to see that we can talk like two adults, trekkerguy.

I think the point here is that you know nothing more about this movie than I, or anyone else, does. So, what's the point of going around presuming to tell people what is or isn't in the movie? Something about that just irks me. And you're not the only one who's done it.

Oh, well.

Okay, I'm kinda pissed off! I can't get the real trailer to play on my freakin' computer! I've seen the crappy bootleg....now I wanna see the real thing!

Dammit!

Oh, well.

Not to get involved in the cop wars too much, but it does indeed look like a breather on that mask.

The trailer certainly is exciting, although it feels something like a "traditional" blockbuster movie. I'm sure that's intentional.

Which is fine. I think it's cool to have an opinion either way.

I just think that for any of us to presume to have an answer either way without even seeing the film comes across as a little pretentious. That's all.

Right.

And to steveman; once I pointed out why it doesn't look like a robot or cyborg to me I had no interest in discussing it further.(Hence not being able to wait for the movie to come out) All the points have pretty much been made going both ways and no one is going to change their minds. I apologize, I am sure there is someone who could entertain your desire for further discourse on the subject. I find no further value in a rock arguing with a hard place, only dirt will be thrown and that has already started.
