SJA 2X09/10: The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith

right and now an episode review
Sarah Jane & co run into the Torchwood plot from "Out of Time" only to find that its been caused by an Anomaly from Primeval. Sarah Jane does everything she knows she isnt meant to do, and comes back to a plot line kinda similar to "Last of the Time Lord"
meanwhile Luke gets his first taste of time travel, and leaves me shouting at the TV "he is so going to make a brilliant companion" and later "dont touch the baby" meanwhile both Luke & Sarah Jane mention theDoctor (who im guessing would not be best pleased with his former companion if he saw this) so many times that I start to wonder, could theDoctor really be about to appear on SJA? and how many times do Luke & Sarah Jane have to mention theDoctor before the TARDIS appears.

given how we dont know how Sarah Janes parents having lived effected the time line, it is still unclear as to how the Doctor fits into the Time Line, there are two important factors to consider
1) what would Aunt Lavinia have made of her life if she had not had to bring up Sarah Jane? (think Pete Tyler in the alt reality)
2) what would Sarah Jane be like had she been bought up by loving parents? how would it effect who she is? and what does that mean for her time with the Doctor?
Of course its not been confirmed that the Doctor does appear, but I could well picture him appearing in this one.

I agree with wamdue when he said that the story was derivative of so many things, Doctor Who's "Fathers Day", Ashes to Ashes, Primeval. And yet I don't care because it was a fantastic start to the story.
The direction by Graeme Harper was spot on as usual, the team at Upper Boat really do a great job with their period stories such as "The Idiot's Lantern" or "Human Nature".

Wasn't Tennant scheduled/rumored to appear in one of the SJA serials, but ultimately couldn't due to a scheduling conflict? Even if he doesn't, we've still got The Brig to look forward to in a couple of weeks
I dont know the full story, just that it was rumoured he would appeared, and ive never seen the BBC officially deny it, I still hold out hope, but only a little bit.

as for the Brig, I love how this CBBC show manages to show so much continuity with the Classic series, Sarah Janes live is not something they feel free to edit with, and use it to enhance the show. The Brig being a brilliant example of this.

I hope we do get an appearance from the Doc as its more likely in SJA than in Torchwood, maybe to sort out the mess in the end. Considering the blase attitude he had to the Trickster and his brigade in "Turn Left" I don't see him being a big threat to the Doc, until Sarah Jane interfered with history.

Although I came to Doctor Who through the new series, I've become a great fan of the old series through watching DVDs with a friend of mine who's an old school Whovian. This has given me an appreciation for the way the SJA respects the continuity of the old series. The feel and format of the show is also more like an old serial than we get in NuWho, I just love the cliffhangers.

Make out of this what you will but RTD said he is not appearing in it. If he was they woul;d be advertising it like made as it is not something they would want to be keep quiet.

in theory yes, however when it airs on CBBC the news of his appearance willl be on the internet, and people who know in time for the BBC episode.

no the Brig episodes are the next episodes.Are these the episodes with the Brigadier? I'm really looking forward to this story. Also, Lis Sladen looks younger every damn time I see her!
Really liked this, even if I couldn't imagine Sarah Jane being quite that stupid. The reveal of ruined London was fantastic, worthy of a Who episode cliffhanger.
Luke was excellent in this, and the little kid who was the Graske was quite creepy! I love the way the show doesn't talk down to kids, but more than anything I love Clyde (platonically)

Russell T officially denied it at the Sarah Jane launch. And then added, "Of course, I lie a lot."
And as it turns out, he was indeed lying, as he'd said, "The Doctor will not be appearing," but he appeared in clips in Secret of the Stars...
not an actual Primeval Anamoly, just a hole in time which made me think of the Anamoly, don't worry SJA didn't just crossover with Primeval.
