SJA 2X09/10: The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith

[fanwank]Or maybe they could hold the Doctor back for the finale where he appears at the end and whisks Sarah and the Brig on an adventure for one of the specials.[/fanwank]

That'd be so awesome... I think I'm in fanwank mode now, too!

Part 2's TARDIS moment - brilliant.

Thought the solution was a bit of a cop-out really. Good episode though. Cut above the rest aside from the Sontaran one.

The Brig doesn't exactly look ready for action next week either :D

I thought it was very "Father's Day". I did like the TARDIS moment, but guessed it was just be a normal Police Box. And the "Yes, ethnic person in the 50s. Hello." and "Surely that can't be the fashion in the Punjab." moment.

^ yeah those lines were great as well. I think SJA must be the only British 'kids' show that actually makes any kind of effort these days.

really like the nonTARDIS appearance, that was brilliant.

anyways so the village is on a weak spot in time, meaning that the total devastation of London (if not the planet) could occur, thats weak I was hoping for something to do with Aunt Levina

It was a good story, but I just have one niggle with it. Sarah Jane's parents were, and I don't mean to be petty here....quite common by the way they spoke. I always imagined her to come from a slightly more "upmarket" family. But she was brought up by her aunt.

I also think that she would have known the dangers of messing with time, but I suppose she just couldn't help herself.

I liked it.
For some reason I expected the real TARDIS to appear at the end after all.
And out steps Mum and Dad. They never really died, they became companions of the Doctor after they turned that corner. Would have been a perfect way for him to save the day without diminishing Sarah's and her parents deeds.

There will probably be a future episode where she has to save her parents from the trickster himself and in the end they end up in the present and go vacation wild!

Did anyone else about wet themselves when you know who appeared in the "next time" trailer? I let out a sound usually only heard by teenage girls when referring to their favorite boy bands! Yeah, that's right - I'm not ashamed to show I'm excited for next week!

Argh, bollocks, I was out and missed it!

Good solid episode but way too Father's Day for me, would have been way better if they'd come up with a more original ending. Similarly the TARDIS moment was cool, or would have been if it had patently not been the Doctor's TARDIS (different size/colour etc)

Loved Rani bursting into the church hall though, and everyone put in good performances...does Lis Sladen have to get teary eyed every week though? (ok its allowed this week but she does seem to do it at the drop of a hat!)

I'm being overly picky I know, it was well made and fun and really quite intelligent/gritty for a 'kids' show.

The Brig and Samantha Bond next week???

Squeee!!!!

I voted excellent. ;)

Rani's acting seems to be getting better by the episode. Maybe she's getting more comfortable playing the character.

^ Yeah, every in the cast has gotten really good this season. Definatly make the show worth watching even when some of the stories are less than stellar. I do love how huggy everyones become.

Sarahs mom and dad simply taking her word for it and agreeing to nip off and kill themselves seemed a bit of a stretch to me though. I keep thinking it really needed a scene of SJ showing a birthmark, or even the old 'You have her eyes' cliche would've sold it a lot better for me.

Now bring on the attack of the one-eyed squiddy things!

that seemed a bit rushed to me as well

I'm sorry, I'm barging into a thread about an episode I haven't seen of a series I don't watch.

BUT....

What on Earth does that mean? How can you be "common" just because of your speech pattern? How does your accent make you better or worse than someone else?
