Official Trailer Review & Comments Thread!! [Spoilers, of course]

Re: Kirk with Alien

Kirk-Alien.jpg

Kirk with some alien totty ;) She has forehead ridges, looks a bit Cardassian to me?

300 years into the future and they still couldn't come up with something other than .... ;)

She doesn't have head ridges - go to 1.42 - her head is smooth.

I think she *is* green but very pale - if you notice, her fingernails are the same colour as the rest of her - so she's *some* colour.

Did anyone notice some kind of snow monster belching out at Kirk on the snow planet??

Hey - I'd love to hear a reaction from a non-Trek fan. Of course, on a Star Trek Fan message board that's unlikely. But... I'd be curious if non-Trekkies would be pumped to see it.

My buddy is decidedly a non-trek fan, and his reaction via e-mail was:

"trailer was great...loved the beginning especially"

Not much to go on, but certainly positive.

I got this from a comment from an article regarding the trailer on www.comingsoon.net. What do you guys/gals think, real?

I already saw this and 25 minutes of the movie a week ago in spain when JJ was here. They'll be showing you guys 4 scenes and prior to that, this trailer.

The 4 scenes are:

A fight in a bar with Kirk while he's flirting with Uhura. Some cadets thinks he's a smartass and take him. He handles himself pretty well, but it comes to a point when he is down. Capt. Pike stops the fight. When Kirk is concious again Pike tells him his dad was a great officer and he should take the tests into starfleet.
Kirk is a renegade and doesn't want to but next day he shows up when shuttles are leaving with new recruits.
He dares Pike, four years? I beat I can do it in 3.

Second scene is on the Enterprise. All cadets are called out for an emergency but kirk doesn't go since he in probation at the academy (it looks like he's been there for a couple of years but I wasn't sure). McCoy takes him to the ENT, since there is a regulation where docs can bring their patients along, and he makes Kirk ill so he can get away with it (causing kirk to have side effects wich are really funny). Kirk hears where they are going and alerts Pike. No one belives him but he is right. There's a huge Romulan ship drilling vulcan with some sort of platform.

Thrid scene we see that Spock has jettison Kirk to a cold planet (he just doesn't stand the guy). On that planet he meets with old Spock, who tells him he must go back, cuz he is meant to save vulcan. He advises kirk to show younger spock that he is not in control of his emotions yet so he is not fit to duty.
They met up with Scotty who is there as punishment for loosing Admiral Archer's dog while testing his Transwarp transporter theory (transportation is possible while in warp). Spock uses the theory future Scotty will find and transports them both back to the enterprise. Kirk complains that what spock is doing is cheating and spock says he learn from the best.

Fourth Scene, Pike goes to the romulan ship to negotiate and takes kirk sulu and a red shirt along to jettison them towards the platform the romulans have in order to shut it down. They make it (minus the red shirt of course) on an incredible scen when the jump from space.
They have a fight, shut down the thing but it's too late and the romulans start creating a black hole in the core of vulcan. Spock leaves to get his parents and checkov is in command and he saves sulu and kirk from a certain death when they fall from the plattform to the ground and beams them at the last minute."

Guys, she is clearly green. She's in the same exact light as Kirk. And that is the actress who plays the Orion, I believe.

As Kirk sits on his bike and the camera pans upward to show the Enterprise being built, there are some floating reflections as if he is looking through glass, or this is a scene being shown on a monitor - Old Spock looking back in time?

Noticed this too, but I assumed it was that thing vis effects people like to do where they put in lens flares and other 'photography flaws' to make it seem that what you're seeing was actually filmed, not added in on computer.
I was going to say the same thing, but when I rewatch it, the "flares" that happen to the left of Kirk's head looks different than the normal light flares we see. It really does look kind of like a reflection on a monitor.
