Unresolved Trek trailer questions

I can't be the only one thinking ...

His uncle has a country place
That no one knows about
He says it used to be a farm
Before the motor laws

... every time I see a red sports car running from a hovercop?

Look folks, one of the guys posted the possibility that the director and writers are taking liberties about where the E was built.

There are some things that can be screwed around with that aren't important to ST history, but San Francisco is pretty central to Trek History.

Starships aren't built in Corn Country.

:wtf:

Wanna step outside and say that? ( :) )

Red Barchetta... Wait... The car in the trailer.... HOLY SHIT THEIR RUSH FANS.

lol, why does Star Fleet need to be centered in San Fran, in fact the location of Star Fleet is just a trivial detail that has no effect on anything else in the movie.

-Where are these cliffs in Iowa that young Kirk almost fell off of?

I'm not completely sure, though I think they're part of the mountain range that supposedly exists along the Indiana-Ohio border in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".

Kirk says "buckle up". Will the Enterprise now have seat belts?
Kirk has refused to wear a seat belt since he was a young boy. Didn't you see Kirk fly out of the Corvette and almost fall off the cliff? Some people never learn.

Question: In the Star Trek universe, Earth has abolished money (I guess everyone works because they enjoy it). At the beginning of the trailer, it shows Kirk speeding in a Corvette and trying to outrun the police. Have they done away with speeding tickets in the future? What can that cop do to Kirk? In the future, do we all do prison time for our petty crimes since there are no monetary fines?

Mr. Splotch, you'll get a warning here for posting those images - just a heads-up. Sorry.
Thanks.

The moderator already removed my image from the trailer. Can we post images after the trailer is available on startrekmovie.com?

There is one part where it looks like some kind of rocks are falling together (right after Kirk is getting it on with Uhura(?)) which has me secretly hoping they managed to get the Galaxy Quest rock monster in there somehow.
I am fairly certain that is a big Vulcan statue falling over...

I thought I read somewhere that JJ intended the Enterprise to be bigger than the original.. Bridge and all

I remember reading the same thing. Lets hope it's true. Any society that advanced could and would surely build something a little more stately.

I first raised the question of the Midwest and the Enterprise's construction because it seemed to me that it was not in fact certain and it still appears that we can't be sure. There could easily be a jump in the footage from Kirk driving through the cornfields to San Francisco. In fact, the terrain does look somewhat different between the two. I'm just saying that the issue isn't definitively settled either way.

Which, of course, raises that question again: if those towers aren't part of the shipyards, then what are they? They can also be seen for an instant in the background during the car scene at the beginning of the trailer. Personally I'm leaning to the idea that they are indeed part of the shipyards and that the canyon/quarry is part of the project, but I'm hedging my bets until we know more.

I just hope that if they do have canon-based changes in canon, that they have researched what have changed. The ages of the actors and their respective characters hold up pretty well with what was established in TOS. I can't imagine time travel being the sole reason behind every canon violation.
Some things would have to remain the same in an alternate timeline, wouldn't they?
