MadTV Canceled

How sad! It was always better than SNL and is the one I try to catch on Saturday nights. All of my favorite skits were always on MadTV. And it's sad when something that seems like such a staple in your life suddenly ends.

I love this thread, only one person seems to care. It shows because the show ws cnceled days ago and no one posted it. :)

Whereas I see MadTV and I immediately change the channel.

I have never found it funny.

Back when I was in college (we're talking '98-'99 maybe), one of the local radio stations was talking about the possibility that Fox might cancel MadTV. I remember calling in to say that MadTV had to be saved, because it served a vital function: to remind you that SNL wasn't nearly as awful and unfunny as you thought it was. :p

It was still okay until this last season. They did some of the funniest parodies of Lost, Heroes and Star Trek.

But yeah, time for this and way past time for SNL to go.

I guess I really am surprised that they kept this on as long as they have. I wonder if Comedy Central is really the only place for it to go.

I like the spoof songs ive seen done by them (on YouTube) be in Feist 1, 2 3, 4 or Daniel Powder Your Beautiful.

I loved that show back in the '98 or so years, but it quickly went to seed after that. It's amazing it's been on this long.

Here in Australia, this show has only EVER been on at about 2am in the morning. During my insomniac years I used to watch it and thought it was kinda funny. The bits I loved were,

This fat guy who played Kenny Rogers who always pissed himself. That used to CRACK me up!!!

I think the same fat guy played Randy Newman and they did this skit where all his songs were the same(which they are). One of those "It's funny because it's true!"

This short little chinese woman who always pissed people off around her - hilarious!

This retarded kid who always shouted "Look what I CAN DO!!!" (Although this one got old after a while, just like the kids he was parodying).

This middle aged woman who had this hacking cough who coughed in people's faces. I used to remember her making me hysterical with laughter.

So, I was always a little surprised when people would say Madtv wasn't funny because I remember it being really good. Now, the few bits of SNL I have seen just were NOT funny and I ALWAYS felt this show(the modern version)was MAJORLY overrated. Either that or you need to be a Yank to get all the political references.

It's too bad they got rid of their funniest cats members such as David Herman & Nicole Sullivan, Debra Wilson and of course Phil LAMarr, who i thought would be PERFECT to play Barack Obama. (Though i think he would have to play more of a straight man to SOME of his supporters, who might be on the extreme side, or at least parodied as such).

Tulin the episodes you saw were from the early/mid years, the late 90s, and I agree the show was funny back then. Of course the Stuart sketches (the baby-man look what I can do) just got embarrassing as I believe that guy remains a member of the cast to this day and is still doing that sketch.
