Official Trailer Review & Comments Thread!! [Spoilers, of course]

I went with a group of 5 guys to the theatre, which was pretty packed. Only one of them was a Trekkie, but all seemed genuinely excited, and the theatre was buzzing afterwards, more than for Watchmen. (which I can't wait for)

It's a well made trailer, for sure, and the stuff that I caught, I liked. Others have said that there was no Nimoy in the trailer but I could have sworn I caught a glimpse. Maybe I'm wrong, I just got back from the theatre.

Thumbs up, effective trailer. Studios are still using the Children of Dune music for trailers and I love it.

Re: Top Gun in space? Is Star Trek being dumbed down?

I also noticed that they are selling the sex aspect to much. Not that I’m against hot chicks taking their shirt off on camera, but ST is better than that. I hope they are not trying to dumb Star Trek down for the masses.

Why does sex equal dumb to you?

Besides, TOS constantly pushed against the NBC censors to show as much as possible -- the network notes are documented in The Making of Star Trek. GR certainly would've had "hot chicks taking their shirt off" in TOS if he could've gotten it past the network.

Shit, he couldn't even get belly buttons past them half the time.

The lack of a single shot of Leonard Nimoy as Spock gives me a hint of where they are going with this film.

Nothing gets people excited like a trailer featuring septigenarians. :vulcan:

LOL

I'm WANT to say I told you so SO BADLY.

You'd be in the wrong place to try that, since most people here who've seen the trailer are excited and positive about it.

"I told you so" only works if the people you're saying it to agree that you were right. ;)

C'mon... Pegg's delivery of Scotty's line was so comedic, it was obvious none of these actors, save MAYBE Quinto, will take any of the roles seriously... I was waiting for Pegg to add; "They're magically delicious!", lol.

Wow. I'm psyched.

My favorite shot, as a Sarek fan, was the shot of Sarek and Amanda. *sigh*. My only shipper inclinations...

My only whine. A BRA 300-400 years from now? Well just damn. I would hope that they have designed better clothing by then. Bras suck. I hope by then, something is built directly into clothing. :p

Went to see QoS, but was angry and disappointed that there WAS NO TRAILER! We didn't see the new 'Watchmen' trailer either. I'm not happy, as I was looking forward to seeing it a lot. :scream:

Again, have you seen Star Trek? Forgetting all his comedic lines in TOS, most of Scotty's dialog in TSFS through TFF was played for laughs.

You really, really don't understand the whole "I told you so" thing, do you?

See, if the people you're "telling so" don't agree with you, it falls flat. Doesn't work. Is a way of embarrassing oneself.

Do you get that, now?

:wtf: Then what are we supposed to get for you on wedding anniversary? Chocolate? Flowers?

All I can say is it looks really, really good! Very EPIC! Nice to see Star Trek unconstrained by budget for a change. Yes, it is Star Trek. Getting to the roots of the mythos. Not limited to off hand references of back stories in old episodes. But its very consistent to the broad strokes of Trek.

Scott: I know this ship like the back of my hand.

(Action: Scott then walks right into a support beam and gets knocked out)

If you want proof it's right in the freaking ST:TFF Trailer.. GO YOU TUBE.

In fact I'll do it for you...
