You know, I never payed any attention to the shape or size of warp nacelles, secondary hulls or what have you before I joined this place. For me, it's always been a look at it and either like what I'm seeing or not thing.

Guess it still is.

And it pleases my eye... so.... that means I like it.

Good man, I used to think that way - until I came here too :techman:.

They don't really like it either...

Jealousy is motherfucker isn't it?

Woman, actually. But I appreciate the sentiment. :)

Is it that big a deal, really?

I used to hate Gabe's design, but I would gladly accept it as the redesigned Enterprise now after seeing this thing. Like I said before, updating the ship was not a big deal, just mangling it with little or no work resulting in a half assed kit bash is.

I don't hate it. Is that a yes or a no, then? ;)

I believe the Germans call it a "jein", or at least that's what my boss at the office always says. :p

Actually, that would describe my sentiments rather fittingly. But it's not in the poll...

Edit: i decided to vote "no". Even though I can definitely live with this design, I do think that the designers could have easily done a much better job.

Okay I see your point I think, but I still don't feel that way about it.

I didn't know there were folks who could purposely design a ship so hideous.

Someone needs to track down the designer and break all his pencils.

No, I don't like it. Not one damn bit.

I see it. In a glance I can tell it's the enterprise.. It looks much better than the spindlely Ruler Pyloned ship it will sadly be Fanonned into by haters, and it screams artistic sculpted style.

So I like it.

I've seen some downright horrible fan designs over the years. I know half of mine are terrible. But yes, someone working in the film industry should not be churning out something so unbelievably immaturely designed.

It looks like it was designed by at least a couple of different people who didn't communicate with each other during the process. I don't know if I'd say hideous, but it's certainly cartoonish.

What's immature about it exactly?

TAS proved the original design worked well when used in 1970's cartoons as well. ;)

Fixed for accuracy. Cartoons have come a long way since 1970.

Jet engines in space?...

Edited back. Please do not alter other members posts. The design worked well in 2005 when shown in full CGI detail in "In A Mirror Darkly" as well, going to try and spin a 'different era' BS remark on that one too?
