I said yes not because I like it, but I KNOW I don't hate it. It looks good enough to allow this film to tell the story it needs to tell.

In the context of this film, I like it -- since all it needs to do is to be a ship that reminds me of TOS, which it does.

In the context as a piece of art totally unrelated to this film, I say "Meh -- it's looks OK to me"

They don't really like it either...

Perhaps they were looking for more rust spots instead of a clean, Cadillac look.

Or just a good design? Some of the individual elements are OK, but the proportions are way out of wack, particularly the way the deflector dish juts out from the secondary hull. That is just plain *wrong* looking.

Canon isn't a problem for me as this is clearly a reboot. This design clearly does not live within the existing TOS universe, just as the bridge and other visuals we have seen simply don't fit in.

They did a great job improving and updating the uniforms, but have failed with the Enterprise herself.

Man, seeing this new Enterprise with all the other designs makes me dislike it even more. The rescaled TMP saucer looks so top heavy on that little Engineering section. Its just a bad design for the reimagined TOS Enterprise the more I look at it. For another Trek shiip it would be fine I suppose.

I would like to see her from all angles to make a 100% definite decision, but I like her so far :techman:. Those complaining about the secondary hull: maybe the "small secondary hull" won't look so small when seen directly side on and from a different angle - the saucer looks a bit exaggerated because it's closer to the camera in this shot, just saying.

Here, take a look at the refit compared to the original Ent in the first image on this page - the secondary hull and nacelles look just as small on the refit from a similar angle :

You may be right. But the new ship looks like the saucer is scaled bigger. The thickness of the saucer as opposed to the rest of the ship tells us something about scale. TMP enterprise the saucer seemstobe at a smaller scale as oppsoed to the rest of the ship. If we are to go by thickness.

A no vote from me.

If Abrams was going to redo TOS, I'm not sure shy he changed so much from the look of the ship, bridge, uniforms, etc. and more importantly the behavior of the characters and their history.

I'll not pay any money to see this or spend any money on related material.

Yes.

It's not the design I would have PREFERRED, but I do think it works well. In fact the protuding secondary hull hardly bothers me at all anymore.

I do wish the saucer had been more stylized to match the rest of the ship though.

You know, I never payed any attention to the shape or size of warp nacelles, secondary hulls or what have you before I joined this place. For me, it's always been a look at it and either like what I'm seeing or not thing.

Guess it still is.

And it pleases my eye... so.... that means I like it.

I like it, but I'm not in love with it. Simple as that. I never really warmed up to "D" or "E" though for that matter.

You may be right.

I hope so :). I do like the design though -even from the angle on this image. It took me by surprise and got my heart started that's for sure :techman: - love at first sight, now I know why Kirk wants her. Better not let the girlfriend see this, could make her jealous .

Your right, the refit also seems to look taller whilst the new design ( from this angle anyway) looks flatter and certainly more compact - reminds of the Enterprise E.
