My Generations VHS as run into problems.

I going to watch Generations the other day on VHS and after I put it into the player the tape got pulled out and jammed, gutted. I know it's not super rare and most people would probably throw that film on VHS away but it's the sentimental value I guess, I kind of feel like Zed in Police Academy 4 when is Mickey Mouse watch breaks.

It isn't over yet though, I'll fix tape yet :techman:
(yes I know you can pick the same thing up for pence but don't mention it and they wont find out OK)

I HAD a perfectly good copy of Generations on VHS, I threw it out after I got the DVD. I did keep a copy of STIV and STTMP for sentimental value. STIV because it has an STNG commercial, and STTMP because of the horrible but unique version before the modern Director's cut..complete with Kirk flying past scaffolding.

I've still got my Generations special collectors edition on VHS, the one in the black cardboard box with the shiny glittery version of the cinema poster on the front of it and the collector postcards inside. I thought that as they were limited edition and numbered, my copy might be worth something as a rarity, but they're ten a penny on feeBay, even after 15 years.

I also have Generations on Laserdisc.

Also still have, and am amazed at this, the VHS numbered special collectors edition of All Good Things from 1993, which has the Jonathan Frakes behind the scenes feature, and the trailers for all the Trek films up to Generations.

It is time to pick up the Special Collector's Edition DVD.

The funny thing is that I viewed Star Trek: Generations countless times on VHS and on cable, but as soon as I upgraded to the barebones DVD and then the Special Collector's Edition DVD, I rarely watch it now. :borg:

So your VCR ate a tape and you ran to tell the entire internet about it?

Maybe he was trying to make us feel nostalgic?

I've kept that one for the very same reason... Christ its tedious though. Isn't there something like twenty minutes of extra footage? I like TMP (in a "view once a year" sort of way), but on no account did it ever need to be twenty minutes longer.

^ ommm is that soliciting or not? :p

I've still got my Generations VHS. I remember I got very upset when I received the special edition Generations VHS because it was in super-duper-cut-off-as-much-of-your-screen-as-possible widescreen. And I had a 14" TV. So I traded it in for the standard edition, but it's got the extended promo for TOS-DS9 (including the TOS films) and a preview of Voyager, so I don't want to get rid of it.

I've done exactly the same as Good Will Riker. I bought the special edition DVD, watched the special features, and never really touched it again. I find watching DVDs (Paramount in particular) quite an effort now purely because of the amount of time they force you to read "WE CAN'T BE SUED FOR ANYTHING ROBERT BELTRAN MIGHT SAY ABOUT PARAMOUNT". And then if you walk out of the room thinking it'll eventually get to the menu screen, you walk back in a few minutes later to discover it's waiting for you to make a decision on the language selection screen.

Damn region 2 DVDs with it's stoopid multi-lingual selection :p

Savoy 1984: If you feel this bad, pick up a replacement from eBay. VHS tend to be given away these days. Seriously. Given the auction listing and Paypal fees, the seller will probably be losing money, desperate for somebody to take tapes off their hands.

Might also be a good idea to keep a junkable blank handy, in case your VCR repeat offends. Always try that before putting in anything you consider valuable.

I would give you mine, but British cassettes don't work in the US. Different TV system.

What planet am I on? What year is this? Break down and go to Costco and spend $6 on the DVD for Pete's sake, already!

I was going to donate one of the two VHS Generations I have sitting in a box to you, but this is ridiculous. Your VCR ate the tape becauser your heads probably haven't been cleaned in 10 years. Thsi is not a problem suffered by a $30 dvd player.

I symapthize, man, but what are you going talk about next last week's Voyager episode or the Clinton/Lewinski scandal?

Good Luck to you, laddie.

I still have all my Star Trek VHS movies. I even have a still shrink wrapped widescreen version of TSFS with the funky "widescreen collector card" thing on the back of it.
