4 Clip descriptions from Empire *Spoiler heavy*

It looks like they rolled every model of Enterprise together in some starship-o-matic and this is what came out. Saucer and torpedo launchers looks TMP, the deflector is TOS with a TMP glow, the proportions of the secondary hull look like the -D, the nacelle pylons look like they're from the -E, and the nacelles...haven't quite figured that one out yet. It's going to be a lot harder for people to think that this isn't a reboot.

Hmm, yeah, now that I look at it a little more, you make a pretty good point. I still think it looks pretty frakking good, though. Lord knows it could've been a LOT worse.

Ya know what though, as much as i think this is a cool re-design, im also not certain what to think of it.

Its either me or the angle of the render, but its looks wayyyyy out of proportion, especially the drive section.

And, finally, the new Enterprise:

Meh. I think of everything I've seen/ read, this has me the least excited. It doesn't look bad, but it's not phenominal. I will say this though: if it's a CG ship, it looks petty damned good... almost model-like.

That was my first thought actually - if it is CGI, which I presume it is, it's wonderful realism, really trumps the CG E-E from INS and NEM.

Thats the great thing, maybe it is a physical model.

They used phyisical models in Serenity, and personally, i prefere them to CG shots.

They have more detail, and you know its all hand made and finnished to look perfect, its in a physical form. Thats what i liked about Serenity, some of the model/miniature shots were a breath of fresh air from 'Lets CG everything' movement.

Im hoping they are using at least some physical models, for instance the KElvin look like a physical model, and for all we know it was.

God... the nitpicking about Uhura ordering a Cardassian drink and, to a lesser extent, those who talked about the Porthos reference in a legitimately serious manner... seriously... my head is about to explode.

:scream:

(Exhale)

OK. Feeling a bit better now.

So, I've been weary of spoilers ever since I learned that Data died in Nemesis months before I saw the film. Obviously, that information completely spoiled the film's climax for me. Sure, it wasn't a great film, but still... I can only wonder what my first viewing of Nemesis would've been like had I not known the aforementioned. Now I'll never know.

Point is, coming into this film I wanted to make sure that I didn't spoil it for myself in the same way that I did Nemesis. And while the time may come where I close off my lines of communication to the film, I am glad -- ultimately -- that I checked out those descriptions. They really provide a good sense of some of the film's story elements. And, not to mention, a taste of its scale.

It all sounds really good. I like Kirk hitting on Uhura. I love that Urban is supposedly dead-on as McCoy. I like learning a little more about what old Spock's interactions with the crew will be like. I like getting a glimpse of what some of the action scenes will be like. I like that, apparently, Robert April has officially been excised from Trek (why people were so beholden to a character that appeared once on TAS is beyond me, anyway).

And I could go on. All I can say if that I'm counting down the days 'til Friday...

Btw, forgot to mention, i hate the 'sex with farm animals' line. I have no problem with sex and swearing in Star Trek, don't get me wrong - I just think that's a horrible, cringeworthy line.

This has just occured to me, it looks like a kitbash from Starship modeller or Cult TV man.

Still thinking on it though, ill give you my true thoughts tomorrow after som sleep and a day at work.

Especially coming from Uhura.
Perhaps it would be believable if I heard it from someone in TFF, but from Uhura it is, well, cringeworthy, as you said.

Thank you! I completely agree. That sums up my instant recoil at reading that tripe. It's deeply offensive for anything as enlightened as Trek. People complained about Enterprise for its down-to-Earth 20th Century dialogue. But the thing is, it was far more subtle... not to mention genuinely funnier than this.

^Well, if the farm animal quote was your biggest issue, it might not hurt to go sheck out the other 4 scenes... it really is some pretty neat stuff.

Actually, most of it I loved, and really made me excited to see the movie. Particularly the Vulcan stuff sounds awesome (Finally, the Romulans are attacking Vulcan, their 'sworn enemy forever and ever amen' instead of Earth-for-some-reason!)

But that 'sex with animals' line: :wtf: Is that supposed to be funny? flirtatious? It's just an awful, awful line, Star Trek or not. Crass stereotype toilet humour, just what I was hoping for :borg:

Shatterhand: Wooah there newbie. You might want to direct your less than friendly fire at repeat offenders. I stand by my one and only comment here. You also might want to get used to fans who have different opinions. I don't imagine I will be the last, who is less than impressed at the dialogue.

For the record (and feel free to check this), the majority of my posts going back several years are quite positive. I was looking forward to this film. I speak as I find and that first extract bears no resemblance to the TOS characters I grew up watching. Your mileage will undoubtedly vary, especially if it's based soley on what you've been told.

I think I'm done here.
Were you watching redubbs of TOS cause that stuff is SO Original Series Dialouge.

Oh, don't worry- I wasn't going at you. I was just refering to ChristopherPike's previous statement that he only read the first scene description and would be offended if the whole movie was like that first scene. It doesn't bother me a whole lot, but I do agree that that line was kinda shocking to see.

Kirk was hitting on Uhura the second he saw her in the bar. He was just some random guy to her, so it was a gentle insult to get rid of him.

She orders a round, including a fire tea, Budweiser classics and some Cardassian sunrises.
That's as far as I read. Uhura is ordering Cardassian drinks? Referance to Cardassians in the 23rd century?

COCKFUCKERY!!!!

I should think this qualifies as that:

What follows is a sizeable ruckus as Kirk fends off all four before being pounded nearly senseless on top of a table. As Sulu and the others continue to throw punches a shrill whistle penetrates the brawl.
So, now that we know Takei is gay, can we say that Sulu met Kirk and with 3 other burly men pounded him nearly senseless on top of a table? :p

Dennis, where did you get that pic from? Not even TrekMovie has it up (yet).

It's there now.

Nice. The only jarring thing is the saucer looks so familiar compared to the rest of it. It's like "what did you do to the rest of my ship?" The secondary hull reminds me a bit of Enterprise-B. I give it 94 out of 100 (for what that's worth).
