National Treasure

Just got this movie on Blu-ray. I have found that many people just hate this movie with a passion. Me? I think its a very fun movie. And I love the tid-bits of history they have in the movie. I think its as good as TEMPLE OF DOOM, and far better than Crystal Skull, just for argument sake...

The second one was okay, but that whole 'Templar' stuff always intrigues me. From Raiders to De'vinci to National Treasure, love those movies that take moments of history and weave some crazy ass story around them...

Two thumbs up for NATIONAL TREASURE!

Second one was disjointed as hell.

First one was a lot of fun and wasn't meant to be taken seriously (I think that is why some people had a problem with it).

These movies are exactly what one should expect from a collaboration of Disney and Bruckheimer. Anyone who knows that going it, really has no reason to complain.

A great deal of fun, and admittedly the plot devices are rather incredulous ... but it's still more of a GTVM film.

It's the first blu-ray movie I saw. I noticed that you can make out the logos on their winter jackets.

Fun, but pretty bad. Especially the ease with which they found the ship at the beginning (and the nameplate)

Agreed ... good fun. I love movies that people have to pay attention to that contain tidbits of history which confuse those with diminished attention spans.

Looking forward to the third.

National Treasure 3 will take place in the past in the Caribbean and Johnny Depp will appear as Jack Sparrow. :)

Great movies, absolutely love them. As a student of history I of course found many "untruths" but I didn't care. I watch movies for entertainment, I go to class to learn history. They are just really a lot of fun and I am excited about the next one.

If these movies can trigger an increased interest in history, thenn good for them ... even if the events and such in the films themselves aren't exactly accurate. Seriously, I found them to be excellent and enjoyable romps, with just enough truth in them to make lookign for the rest to be intriguing. It's hard enough to get people interested in history these days, so I welcome most things that help towards that end.

Hey Rob,

What did you think of the recent The Mummy films?

I havent seen the new Mummy. I did like the other ones though. In fact, I think its because of the success of Mummy/National Treasure that Indiana Jones isn't 'unique' anymore. I think both Mummy movies I saw, both National Treasure movies, and even Sahara, are more enjoyable than the last Indy film...

I havent seen the new mummy because I have kids and can only escape to see a movie so many times a year..I will see it when it comes out on DVD...Unfortunately I DID use one of my 'get out of jail' cards to see Crystal Skull...what a waste!!!!

If you watch some of the National Treasure 2 making of featurettes, they didn't have a finished script when they started filming and the writers had to write as they filmed. That could explain a lot of the movie's sheer messiness.

National Treasure is a typical Bruckheimer film, big scale, not very deep, and a lot of fun.

I like it. I like history, so that paints my views a little. This is imo the best treasure hunt movie we've had since the classic Indy trilogy.

I liked the first one quite a bit. Lots of fun, even if it was silly. The second was just a complete mess, though.

I think both NT and NT2 are actually quite entertaining films. Definitely much better then the shitty Indy 4.

I'm waiting for the Bruckheimer version of the Avengers/Justice League, where Ben Gates, Jack Sparrow, the Prince of Persia and Pete "Maverick" Mitchell team up with girls who run a New York saloon to prevent an asteroid from hitting Pearl Harbor.
