More than one year, IW did 1,2,4 and 3,5 by Treyarch, I never liked it simply becasue I don't like using controlleres for FPS games like COD, I prefer mouse but COD 3 was console only.

Actually they were able to develop Call of Duty 3 in only 8 months.

Though they did have some advantages (I would imagine they reused the CoD2 engine and some assets) I would like to see any other major studio (Infinity Ward included) put out a game as good as CoD3 in only 8 months.

Consumers will start caring about development times when they start affecting prices at retail.

COD5 is The Final Frontier. COD6 will be The Undiscovered Country, so all will be well with the world then. :p

Except that this is actually something like the eight or ninth CoD game. ;)

Some news on what would be the 6th COD game (IW) it has been pushed back from Q4 2009 to Q1 2010 to allow extra work though don't expect it to be called COD 6 my guess is something with Modern Warfare in the title again.

No matter how good COD 5 is, am glad that Treyarch contract is up because IW should be the only one making these games and we need less games to keep the franchise fresh.

    SPOILERS:

I got a 360 and the graphics look like COD 3 on it. I finally finished the game, not worth the money. It sucks.

I liked COD 3 much better than this one. I guess after the great gameplay of COD 4 I got spoiled and expected the same or even better from this game, but that was not to be. It felt disjointed and it just seemed that the makers just threw it together to get it into the stores before Christmas. The only two campaigns you fight in the pacific is on Pelilu and Okinawa. The Russian campaign starts off in Stalingrad, but jumps all the way to Germany. There is so much more they could have put in this game.

I would rather have seen them just focus on one theater of war than to split the game between two. If they had focused on the pacific theater they could have done more "island hopping" and included more islands than the two they did in the game. I figured we would at least get to fight to ensure "old glory" got to the top of the mountain on Iwo Jima, but we don't even get to go to Iwo Jima. The only flag raising we get to do is to put the commie flag on top of the Reichstag in Berlin.

The enemy deaths arent anything new except you can wound then and they will sit on the ground hunched over until you kill them. One pet peeve is near the end of the game you have to shoot the enemy multiple times before he will die. I highly doubt a person getting hit with slugs from a .30 calibur machine gun will still have much fight left in him, but for some reasons the nazis and japanese manage to get right back up and start shooting at you again.

Well at least, once you finish, you get a bonus game where you have to survive an onslaught of nazi zombies. Yes you heard me right. You are stuck in a room and dead nazis are coming at you and you have to kill them with head shots. You can also shoot off their arms, but they will still come after you. You can also stab them if you want. You get points and with these points you can by better weapons, repair your defenses or move to other floors. Heck, I liked this game better than the whole game put together.

Wow, Activision can't be happy about that. What are they going to do without a big COD release at Christmas time?

I hope COD 6 has nothing to do with WW II. There are other wars that could be used as a backdrop, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, Iraqi Freedom. I would love to see COD set during the Korean War as that is one war I really havent seen much of when it comes to video games. If they really wanted to make it interesting, set the next COD during a future korean war.

They could make COD annually like Madden. Call of Duty 2010, with Eli Manning on the cover. Hopefully there will be no COD curse.

COD6 isn't set in WW2. IW have already stated that they're done with that setting. It looks likely that 6 will be another Modern Warfare, which frankly, I can't wait for!

Based on the beta version for the 360, I don't get the 'the graphics suck' thing. Are you seeing them in HD? From what I've seen so far they're easily on a par with those of Modern Warfare, if not a little more detailed.

Personally, having played the beta, I'll be picking this up on Friday, but I fully expect to revert back to CoD4 online eventually. The new maps will keep me interested for a while, and I'll work my way through the single player and co-op campaigns, but in terms of longevity, CoD4 will take some beating.

Played some of single player today and apart from a lame lame tank mission, I am loving it. Great battles, great sounds for weps and the graphics look sweet on the PC with everything set to high and a HD monitor to boot.

My only real issue is the Invisable line still there sometimes and your the one having to push up, wish the AI would do it more but seriously some major kick ass battles.

I am cautiously optimistic about this game, I'm going to wait to read a few major reviews and try and get a feel for the general fan reaction. I'll probably pick it up though.

I'm picking it up this afternoon.
I too am more a fan of the IW COD's but I have yet to miss one so I see no reason to start missing one now.

Just curious Lookingglassman, What skill level did you play it on, be honest.
I wonder because you say you've already beaten it and the game just came out and in some markets not out yet.
If you played it on easy then naturally the A.I. is dumb.

Throw some early impressions my way when you can PKerr, I think we have similar enough gaming tastes that I'd feel comfortable making the purchase based on your comments.

Hah, yeah, I had pre-ordered Fallout 3 from Amazon. Realized it was in stores, my order hadn't shipped so I canceled it and picked it up. They seem really good with same day delivery for DVDs but I think I will stick with Best Buy for games.

I heard that the Canadian release may be delayed a day or two... I read that on GameFAQs so it could just be total bullshit... So if any Americans (or anybody) gets their hands on a copy, lemme know.

It looks like fun to me, I dunno.
