different reality..friend?

Kirk's imortal words to the Romulan commander in Balance of Terror. What other star trek antagonist do you think could have been friends in some other reality. Picard/Moriarty? I don't know. Then again, maybe...perhaps Sisko and Dukat? At times they seemed to be heading into some kind of mutal respect, then it all went south...

I don't buy it. Sisko knew Dukat was an A-1 Nut Boy from the freaking get go and he was verrrrrrry correct.

Kirk and Kang. They seemed to understand each other, ultimately.

Picard and Sela, if she could be persuaded to be not quite so the Angry Romulan.

Any chance of a Sisko-Dukat friendship would have required MAJOR changes going WAAAAAY back in Dukat's life.

I always had this sense of Dukat that had he made different decisions, he could've truly BEEN as great as he thought he was--but he set himself on a path early on for which he is wholly responsible. And that makes the good aspects of him all the more tragic--because it's HIS fault and his alone it didn't go that way.

Picard and Tomalak? There always seemed to be an unstated sense of mutual respect between the two, behind all the sarcasm and whit.

O'Brien and the Cardassian he talked to in "The Wounded"?

Picard and Gul Evek?

Picard and Nechayev? ()

There was that one Jem'Hadar in "By Inferno's Light"--the First who fought Worf. Honorable fellow. He understood Worf. A shame the Vorta killed him.:(

Here's my suggestion:

Yeah, definitely.

O'Brien and the Cardassian he talked to in "The Wounded"?

Oh yeah--BIG TIME.

I really feel like if O'Brien hadn't snapped off, Glinn Daro was about to say something major, something that could've done it. Kind of a gut feeling, you could say.

(Oh, and Rush--if you read The Thirteenth Order, I'll eventually explain it. Though not after toying with the readers for awhile... ;) )

Picard and Gul Evek?

I dunno...Evek strikes me as a prick.

Yeah--minus the genetic programming, that guy could've been cool.

Meanwhile, in the Mirror Universe....

Romulan fighting Kirk: "I cannot imagine a world existing in which I would ever call you...friend."
