I'm interested in seeing Starfleet ships people have designed that are NOT arranged in the familiar Enterprise-like layout of saucer with a secondary hull below, from which two warp engines are attached.

The Reliant and Stargazer are two good canon examples of the sort of thing I'm looking for.

No particular reason; I'm just interested. Whatever format is fine. I'm more interested in the ship design than the artistic presentation.

Here are some concepts I was working on for the Titan contest. This was my second choice to entre (though I missed the deadline!!!) It's the delta insignia inspired ship (ignore the kitbashed Enterprise drawing!)

It's the mk I- below voyager (for scale)

Hey Patrick, I really like the cross section views on the mk2 and mk3 They look very promising.

My own humble project

admittedly it's a Reliant based layout, but I like to think of it as a modernization of the excelsior class main hulls that were still "space worthy", hehe.
Please check all pages to see how bad my drawings started and how much they have improved.:)

This was my entry into the Titan contest. I've been experimenting with upper engineering sections for a while.

Thanks! The two you are refering to, are the concepts that are more closely related to my final Titan design (on photobucket). I've been following your thread and really like the ship and how clean everything looks. Your's is the kind of ship this thread is about.

My only really concern is how you're connecting (or going to) the nacelle struts to the main hull. Some sort of reinforced platform on the underside seems needed. Nothing too convoluted.

Man, Patrickivan, those are nice sketches...I've always like scanned sketchbook stuff, I wish we could see more of that on this thread.
Just like to add I like the "chevron/boomerang" design also...
I think that would be a nice departure/"hero ship" concept...very cool idea.

To be honest, you don't see reinforced platforms on jet aircraft where the wings attach. It is all handled by internal structure. One of my pet peeves with alot of "deckplans" shown for star trek is a habit of making nearly the entire volume habitable space with no internal structure supporting the ship.

Good point. And I'm guilty of that too! Though if I were to defend my actions with a half assed response- I'll say that the overall structure is built with super strong reinforced futuristic materials, that allow for this. I wouldn't say that it's too far fetched...

That would make your connecting struts to be simple too, making my original critique superfluous. :)

Thanks- maybe I'll draw this ship up since due to it's positive reception.

Non-standard? Well... I've got a LOT of them. One ofthem is the Hayden, which some of you already know by now. For the rest I've added some examples, the funny part is that one of Patrickivan's designs matches one of my scout very closely, though I've added a deflector pod on top.

Here's a little pathfinder vessel, based on the Defiant but with a rollbar added to the design. She still packs a punch, though...

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I really like this design... Hey I know! It's got a pod in place where I don't have one on mine!

Actually, I can see something like that being a modular piece.

I'd like to see a side view of yours- I have a lower hull, that if you squint, you can see in the mkI version (the ship below Voyager).

If I Show You Mine Will You Show Me Yours?....

I am in pre-production on a fan film about the Starfleet Rangers and here are some of the ships in my show

Well, I didn't really flesh the Powell out, though I made a small picture that depicted some more views of it; no side view unfortunately...
