The trailer

NCC-1967

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
I've been wondering...
what if these photos we've been shown were taken from the trailer?
Just a thought...

The trailer:
Paramount logo
Bad Robot logo
The USS Kelvin under attack
Nero ordering fire
Kirk and McCoy inside the shuttle, looking at... something huge
Spock grabbing Kirk's throat
Nero again
Spock against that big viewscreen, talking to someone (Pike?)
An escape pod crashes on an ice planet. Kirk evacuates it and finds...
Kirk, Sulu and Chief Olsen in combat gear
Kirk; McCoy, Scotty and the others look at someone entering the bridge (Spock?)
The last scene: Kirk sits in the captain's chair!

And no USS Enterprise anywhere in the screen!

Fixed!

Now THAT would be groundbreaking filmmaking...and better than anything the Beebs would have probably come up with had they been left in charge of the film franchise.

I find it highly unlikely that the Enterprise will not be shown. I mean, they already showed the saucer in the teaser. Why wouldn't they show the whole ship in the trailer? Just because a couple of magazines with a few pics didn't show it?

Agreed. They gave us a peak in the teaser; it'll be in the trailer.

Why? Because they want the fans to be titillated to the point they will literally mow each other down in order to get seats the first night the movie plays.

Unless you can give me documented evidence of moviegoing violence of the sort where people are actually being "mowed" down by other people to get a seat, that's not going to happen. Even Star Trek nerds are civilized.

But who to play Harry?
Frank Caliendo... he's funny and he can play anybody! :techman:

And he kinda looks the part. LOL
I wasn't very familiar with him beyond having heard the name mentioned a few times, so I looked at some of the clips available online, and... I don't know. Yeah, he could sorta look the part but, as far as I'm concerned, the appearance is the least important part. Far more important is that brash, roguish charm and flamboyance which Carmel brought to it -- the way of making Harry someone engaging and fun and at the same time he's someone you know you shouldn't trust any farther than you could throw him.

I'm not sure who'd be the best, but I have a wild idea
Eddie Izzard
could be a lot of fun as Harry Mudd. Quite different from Roger Carmel's Harry, perhaps, but a lot of fun.

But as others have said, what was in the teaser is no guarantee of what's in the movie.
Also the first appearance of it in the movie is supposedly breathtaking, dramatic, jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, and all other such words. If we see it in the trailer -- meaning its image will be all over the cyber-world shortly thereafter -- that will spoil the unveiling in the movie.

I will say it's 50-50 that we see "some ankle," as the saying goes. But only a 10 percent chance we get a full body shot.

I think it's most probable that the real thrill of the teaser will be getting a glimpse and maybe a line or two of Nimoy as Spock again.

They showed the Enterprise-E in the trailer for First Contact. Why wouldn't they show the new Enterprise now?

The Enterprise is as much a character in this movie as the other actors. You don't show a trailer for a Star Trek movie and not show the ship.

They could have the best of both worlds by showing quick little glimpses of parts of the Enterprise. Enough to make you think you've seen it, but so little of it you have no choice but to go see the damn movie. :)

That would be a great reveal!

Do spiders make chutney???

If they don't give us a glimpse of the Enterprise in the trailer, I'm fairly certain a number of rabid Trek fans will cannibalize Arbams alive.

Because JJ is not an idiot like the Beebs.

You know, showing the Enterprise blow up in the Star Trek III trailer was probably the worst thing out of every movies' trailers. And that was before B&B.
