IIRC correctly I have the BenQ drive which I think is supposed to be more quiet than the two (?) other drives that have been known to be shipped with the system. It's still relatively loud, mind you.
Frankly, I don't understand why. I mean this is just a standard PC DVD drive, essentially, isn't it? Then why not pick a more quiet one?
I suppose part of the problem may be the housing of the XBOX itself which probably doesn't allow for much sound proofing. I imagine the PS3 with the somewhat larger exterior might be better suited to that.
But then, the Wii has a tiny case, and it's far, far more quiet.

I noticed the same. Actually, I think it's the first time I noticed it being so loud.

The DVD-ROM drive gets ridiculously noisy on the 360 on top of the fact that it's so intensive that the fan goes nuts as well.

I'll probably get around to playing it after Fallout and Fable.
It will probably feel quite familiar after playing Fallout 3.
So I've heard. Fallout so far is awesome, I just need to figure out the VATS stuff.
I used to be awesome at most video games, then played nothing but WoW for like 2 years, came back to other games, and now I'm a noob
That's a good point.
I thought WoW would have kept me sharp, but besides twitch reflexes, I guess the only thing it taught me was to manage a shitload of stats and strategies. Oh, and a bunch of math.
if you want that old scool feeling, then
1.) Don't save your game, beat it in one sitting
2.) If you die 3 times, restart the game.
