Tomb Raider Underworld demo now on Xbox Live

Played last night: some basic thoughts:
The game is gorgeous. Yes, it's very, very soft (think GTAIV level of cartoony softness), but it's so beautifully animated that it doesn't matter.
Laura has incredibly complex, context sensitive animations that make her super believable - she also has a few cool new moves (the chimney jump being my favorite). The game also features the best looking and animated tigers that I've ever seen in a video game (not that too many video games feature tigers ...)
I'll pick it up when it's released.

I thought the animation of Lara was a bit stiff looking, but it does look like a gorgeous game.
Never been a fan of Tomb Raider, for some reason the only pleasure I ever manage to get out of the games is from making her jump to her death.
I did suggest a new Tomb Raider game for people who don't like Tomb Raider games where you build death traps for her to fall in to, which you can then share with your friends online.
Sony did say they liked my idea but for some reason they took the death parts out and renamed it Little Big something ? Not sure.
I'm really looking forward to this game so thanks for the hint about the demo! I'll download it today.
I really liked 'Legend', and I'm hoping this one will be even better (let's face it, Legend was great but still had lots of room for improvements). The only think I don't like about 'Underworld' so far is that they've got spiders in the game. Who wants spiders in games? I know I don't. Yuck!

I couldn't get very far it the demo. I was climbing around and eventually got stuck and gave up.
I still have the PC versions of Legends and Anniversary I got for cheap from Half Price Books that I need to play.

I play a lot of fantasy games. I've learned to live with them.
I'll have to check out the demo later. I probably won't be getting the game anytime soon, though. I still haven't finished Legend, or even started Anniversary yet.
I thought the demo was pretty fun, my biggest complaint was that I had some difficulty getting Lara to jump in the right direction a few times. Why did she jump away from the camera when I was holding left? Things like that.

I had the exact same problems when you did--the controls don't seem to be mapped consistently depending on which way the camera is facing. I can imagine this would make later, more challenging levels downright unbearable unless it's fixed.
Ditto on the backlog, and that's before my copy of LBP has even arrived.
I got stuck super early on. i'd climb up something, fall into the water and have to start all over again. only to fall 10 feet past where i was last time. and to be honest, i dont mind if what i was doing was fun, but it wasnt. so i simply gave up.
