Best Opening Scene...

Having seen treads on the best closing scene, how about the best opening scene. There are many really great ones, they are supposed you draw you in after all. One of my favorites is the opening scene of "Endgame" Voyagers series final episode, seeing Voyager do a fly-by of the Golden Gate Bridge was totally great, since I live in the Bay Area every time I cross the bridge I just try to imagine really seeing Voyager cruising right over me.

The only other time I can recall seeing a Starship flying by the GGB, was the Trek film "The Voyage Home" when the Enterprise crew flying a Klingon War Bird under the GGB. No where near as cool as Voyager though...

The very beginning of "Impulse" had my nerves shot, with a batshit insane T'Pol. It was an impossibility not to watch it all the way through... either "Impulse" or "Cause and Effect", with the Enterprise just blowing up like that.

Voyager's "Good Shepherd" had a really great opening, zooming in from space to Janeway's readyroom, following a PADD with her orders down through the ship, finally reaching the poor bastard crammed into the lowest part of the ship, and zooming out into space again. Too bad the rest of the episode wasn't that great.

def gonna have to go with the enterprise exploding in cause and effect, but also a shout out to earth getting destroyed in twilight!

TNG's "Cause and Effect" was really good, but I'd have to go with, suprisingly, a Voyager episode. I'm not sure which episode it was--maybe Scorpion, Part I?--but it's only like 10 seconds long, and shows 3 Borg cubes, I think, that then get instantly destroyed by a then unknown villian.

Yep, that was Scorpion, I'm fairly certain.

Actually, I like some of the more unusual TOS opening scenes, the ones that go against formula, like how Return of the Archons starts out with Sulu and another crewman, O'Neal, instead of our regulars, being chased by the Lawgivers. Another fave opening: The Corbomite Maneuver, with Spock in command, and the ship being blocked by the cube buoy. -- RR

DS9: Emissary, the text crawl and the battle were cool.

I know it doesn't count but DS9 had some fantastic, "Last time on Star Trek: Deep Space 9..." openings to sum up what has gone before.
