Despite their names, the lounges now have nothing to do with your rank but your level instead.
The day crew gets the whole forum. Since there is very little activity here at "night," we've been allowed to keep this thread going. Believe me, we've been over this ground before.

Well, it technically has to do with both, because I've been here 9 years and am still only in the Vice Admiral's Lounge.
They claim it "fixed a problem" that came with vB, but I don't understand what that means, nor do I understand how the length of time a person has been here is relevant. Membership time shouldn't even be a factor.
I have nothing but contempt for this court!
It has been explained to me that your rank (as in your user title) is based purely on post count.
Your privileges are associated with your level. Your privileges include which lounge you have access to, your use of the search bar, how many people you can PM at one time etc.
I've suggested that they be renamed to remove any references rank to clear up any confusion.
It's still not perfectly clear to me what 'level' means.
And I find the Red Shirt Lounge more dead than the whole board at the deadest of night. The past couple of hours I've checked out a bunch of miscellaneous threads and I agree that most are rather congenial. But it's not like this one. Each one of them has a theme.

And I can't believe I'm still here. I woke for over 2 days, went to bed early, got up super early, did my James Bond job thing without dozing off too much, hoped I'd go to bed early again, but sadly, here I am still... I don't even have the excuse of the weekly Farscape all-nighter on sci fi: it's been over for 40 minutes. It's gotta be you guys.

The thing that grinds my gears is that Californians try to merge in the middle of intersections, especially in a frakking turn. Way to risk your life, asshats.
no, but i was the second guy behind a guy who waited at a turn light for it to turn yellow before he made his turn (funny enough the guy infront of me was a cop who pulled this douche bag over, and i watched as the cop found weed in his car and arrested him) on a side not, at this same turn light, i got behind a BIG SUV at night and i could see the porn this guy was watching on a flip=down DVD player
I will have you know that i don't do that. Actually, one thing that happened to me while driving today was that someone wanted to turn into this hotel and there were so many people walking by that they wouldn't let him turn in. So two cars behind me were going to change lanes but they changed too close to each other so they stopped. So since they were stopped, trying to figure out what was going on, i took that opportunity and floored it.
I hate that, happens alot with the tourists around here. Cops like to pull them over. From what I understand there is some sort of law against watching porn on those when kids could see it.
Yea still....its tacky and gross and I dont even understand why someone would want to watch that while in the car....
I just dont see that point....or maybe thats the point.
You think that's tacky and gross, I once drove through the market in downtown Ottawa blasting Jingle Cats out of my car. It was summer.
