The series is slowly devolving into a soap opera. Wow, now we have to deal with Michael and his quasi-relationships every week. Zzzzzzzzz. . . .

I cannot stand it when TV shows or movies show sparks flying from a vehicle when it gets shot, especially when there is no bullet damage. Anyone with firearms experience knows that bullets (even jacketed) don't cause anything to spark.

Agreed. However, just having them have zero impact at all visually doesn't really lend itself to a visual medium (and frankly, is dull). That's why I suggested reusing the effect from the 2 hr movie where KITT's skin "cracked" and absorbed the bullet's energy then "healed".

Then why watch a show about a talking car that can morph into other cars...?

So, how long until they run out of clever ways to incorporate "Knight" into the title of each episode?

Based on the titles of the original series' episodes, never. :techman:

Based on the episodes listed for the new series on wikipedia, now that I've taken a look, never is a legitimate answer for the new series. Every episode in the first 9 or 13 seems to use the pun.

But looking at the titles to the original series, they rarely made a play on words with "Knight" in the title in the first two seasons.

Just three times in the first season, counting the pilot twice. Four times in the second season, counting a two-part episode twice. It's true, the third season does it a whopping fourteen times, and the fourth season nearly as much thirteen times, but that's not the same as every episode title.

I know, I know, picking at things for no reason, but this is the internet. :p

I watched the pilot and the second episode, but I didn't find anything here to pique my interest. The characters are dull, the premise rehashed, and I think I'm just tired of the mysterious conspiracy plot device. I don't care about Michael Knight, and KITT is dull as powder. The people in the KITT cave are not distinctive enough to be remotely interesting.

Sorry to walk into a thread & just bash. ;) I just finished watching episode 2 a little while ago and wanted to vent. :D

Yeah realistic or no, the sparks were visually exciting and really made it clear to the audience what was happening. Even as a kid I knew it was over the top (just like the loud whooshing sound of Superman flying), but I just went with it because it was powerful and dramatic.

As for this episode, I enjoyed the setting and the interplay between Michael and Zoe was a lot of fun, but there just wasn't NEARLY enough action for my taste. I'm sorry, but KITT transforming into Attack Mode or racing down a road doesn't qualify. I want to see him ramming other cars, crashing through walls, and turboboosting through things dammit.

Hell, KITT barely even seems to get dirty in this new show.

This is the first episode I missed.
So KITT can submerge now as well.

I fully expect KITT to morph into this by seasons end:

yea, KI2T did get gadgets fairly regularly but damn not this fast. I expect KITT to fly by next week or the end of the season >_>

^ I thought pretty much the same thing. I wonder if he can still morph into other colored vehicles?

The morphing feature is cool (unless it's changing into a truck). The morphing from the pilot was awesome and believable. But every movie/show does the sparks when shot at with bullets.

In the Pilot, he morphed into other colored Mustangs. It was pulled off very well.

yeah it sucks they have to play it so safe even resorting to using green screen driving sequences.

I'm also disappointed that we haven't seen KITT driving himself that much. That would really do a lot to make him seem like a real character, instead of just a really advanced GPS like he seems to be now.

Michael Sr. did most of the driving in the original series.

KITT mostly seemed to drive when they were crusing. When in a chase or something, yeah, Michael's hands were on the wheel but they were also in "Pursuit" mode, a drive mode KITT has that augments Michael's driving with KITT's processors to make him able to better control and handle the car at high speeds and in tight turns.

I'm guessing in this series Mike is driving in a similar type of mode in chases.

^ That makes sense especially since in the second episode it seemed that Mike had the ability to be completely focused on what he was reading while driving at high speeds in heavy traffic.

There were tons of moments where KITT drove himself on the old show. Most of them were really brief, like KITT driving up to meet Michael at an entrance or coming to the rescue (hence the famous "KITT, I need you" line), but they were still cool as hell. I never got tired of that little dashboard startup sequence we saw in nearly every episode.

I forgot, we did see the new KITT driving himself at the start of the premiere, although somehow it wasn't nearly as magical. Not sure if it was the car, or the fact the novelty has just worn off...

[first point] Yeah, I was mostly talking about times when Michael was inside the car. ;)

Your second point? I agree, this show is missing cool things like KITT's start-up sequence, thelights on the gas pedal, the lights under the door handle, etc. It's just missing a certain "slickness."

My TiFaux gets a fail this week, it didn't record KR but it's mostly my fault. I probably had two things recording.

So far I think that Viper was a little more interesting. I might keep watching Knight Rider for the eye candy but I'm really not expecting it to get much better.

I liked that startup sequence too first the dashboard, then various other things like "fuel pressure* and the later seasons like the light up foot peddle and an automatic never looked so good shifting to "D" lol

Also the best scenes were where KITT is driving by himself is when Michael is talking to someone and the car follows them while they walk
