Apology to Voyager fans.

For the longest time I was very critical of Voyager for many different reasons.
All the standard lines that have been repeated years poor character development, scripts, and etc. However, I have recently been watching it on Spike T.V. on a pretty regular basis and the episodes I have seen have changed my mind about the series greatly in positive way. For example the episode where Torres trys to eliminate her unborn child's Klingon DNA actually had me in tears toward the end, the episode where Seven's cortical node was failing also had some great character moments as well. I'm not sure how I could have missed these episodes and others like them during its initial. While I still have some problems with the series (espeacially the end of the Kes storyline ie "Fury" and the series ending) it is no longer on my do not watch list and I am really enjoying seeing it like it is the first time. So I apologize to the Voyager fanbase for bashing the series with apparentlly really watching it closely

All is forgiven, jholt. I too have a few issues with VOY but when I rewatch it, its not all that bad for what it is. If you just switch off all pretences of 'its not DS9' or 'it isn't dark enough', you get an entertaining popcorn show. I actually prefer VOY to ENT.

Oh, and welcome to the board.

I'm going through the Borg Cube DVD set of the entire series, and there's certainly a lot of high points. I think Voyager's bad episodes stand out more than some of the other series, but as a whole it's very entertaining and downright fun to watch.

Congratulations on coming around. Now, you simply have to go back and watch the first three seasons, before seven's brea-, er, Borg implants became the focus. See some superb episodes.

I'm been having a similar experience as I've been TIVO-ing Voyager lately. Originally I had bailed out after a few seasons. So now I'm watching several of the later seasons that I had missed and the overall quality of the show seems much better than I had remembered.

I remember that may main gripe during the show's original run was that the characters seemed really bland to me. But as I watch now they all seem to have much more personality. Maybe they just needed a few years to come into their own.

Voyager was the first series to bring me into star trek, so I'm glad that some of its critics are finally realizing its brilliance.

Resistance is futile.;)

OT: Paul Newman. I've read a memorable quote from him over the last few days in his obituaries. He was noted for his solid marriage and not being a philanderer; when asked on one occasion about that remarkable celebrity fact, he responded: "When you have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?"

voyage ris really not a bad show, its not my favorite trek but it really has a great cast. At times it more family focused, something kids could watch with their parents. it does have some deep episodes though, Blink of an eye and many otherslike B'Elanna trying to delete her babies klingon dna, when B'Elanna has to be opeated on bya holographic cardassian. Another episode is Barge of the Dead. Some great deep 7 of 9 episodes and a few others.

Yes those were very great episodes:bolian:

glad to see people are getting a new perspective on this show.

Voyager was not particularly ambitious, but from 1995-2001 it had a marked influence on my life, and by extension still does.

It would be nice to watch it all over again. one day. :techman:

Do my dishes and we'll call it even! :techman:

Gotta be my windows for me!

I did the same thing--only watched a season or two, then an ep or two a year. Got back into it thanks to the fan collectives, now I love it and have all the seasons on dvd!

Am I allowed to insert my obligatory mention of The Thaw, as the finest hour of Trek ever produced, in this thread?
