Terminator: TSCC=soon to be terminated

How long will Terminator last?

It's apparently already cancelled, but they might still air episodes that have been completed. ****ness. And the main reason is to save Prison Break because they think the ratings for that show are being affected by TSCC, which is just total BS. PB's new concept is to blame, not Terminator. Hell, if they were so concerned about PB, they should've flipped the time slots.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has reportedly been blamed by Fox for adversely affecting Prison Break's dwindling US ratings.

"Audiences just aren't responding to the show," a Fox source told website SyFy Portal about Sarah Connor, which is screened at 8pm on Monday nights as a lead-in to the jailbreak drama. "Our biggest surprise is the 18-to-49s [demographic] - those numbers are in the toilet."

The insider added that Fox is likely to axe the Terminator spinoff during its current second season and attempt to salvage Prison Break in another timeslot.

"All I can say is that production will likely stop, and I would think that Fox might try to air some of the episodes already in the can," the source stated. "But I don't know. They don't want to lose Prison Break, so there could be some schedule shuffling in the future."

I'd have to see last season's ratings for Prison Break, but the basic reasoning makes sense. If PB is preceded by a show that makes people change the channel, they won't have as many viewers for the other shows. Much as I hate FOX for cancelling New Amsterdam and Firefly, they do seem to have a handle on how to run their business successfully. And continuing to air a costly show that gets pitiful ratings isn't really a smart decision.

However, if they were smart they could have kept New Amsterdam, which was cheaper to produce, and have the same if not better ratings.

It and TSCC were nearly identical I do believe in terms of average viewers and thats including the bloated debut after the Super Bowl. I bet they could've grown NA whereas TSCC has a more niche fanbase

This has been said before, but the ratings for NA were inconsequential, since its demise was a forgone conclusion. It was the first casualty of the season last year (with production being stopped about a month before the strike happened), and only found a spot on FOX's mid-season schedule because of the strike itself.

There've really been only 3 reports on this situation so far (the scyfyportal one [which was re-distructed EVERYWHERE], the one from Entertainment Today, and a TVGuide Ask Matt Roush report), so I'm not going to panic until we get some corroborating evidence one way or the other (such as more reports - either positive or negative - from other credible sources).

Quoting SyFy Portal as a source isn't exactly reputable journalism. They're right from time to time, but they post a lot of tabloid trash from time to time, too.

I think the lowest ratings NA ever pulled in were 2 mil above Terminator.

Stringing a narrative together for clarification.

Cancelling TSCC due to its cost and continually lowered ratings is smart.
Cancelling NA before it aired could be seen as tolerable and no one disputes it was DOA when it aired under the conditions of the strike and a need to fill programming.
However, if they(fox TV execs) were truly smart then they would have looked at the nuts and bolts of NA vs TSCC and chosen better. That would mean reversing course on their prior bad choice but it would have been better from a cost perspective. Since TSCC is performing poorly in the coveted demo that as a factor for TSCC becomes moot.

Bottom line is that Fox TV programming could be run just as effective by untrained chimps selecting the programming. The are not that smart it seems afterall.

Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles will now fall into the heap of cancelled sci/fi themed shows poorly handled by Fox TV.

It's a real shame. When I heard this series concept I really disliked it and hoped it wouldn't happen. I thought for sure it would be cancelled early. But now after sticking with the series i've gotten into it. I still don't think it can sustain full seasons. Shorter seasons work out better. Hope we get some conclusion.

^ There's been no official word on whether or not the series has been or will be cancelled, merely a handful of mixed reports on the ratings situation.

What happened to the rumor about it possible moving to FX? It seems that would be a better home for it. I dont know about the cost of the series being feasible to do so but still i would love to see it continue somehow.

I know, still a shame that it's a possiblity though and things aren't looking good.

Only one of the reports that has surfaced thus far has been negative, that being the SyFyPortal one; it might seem like there've been more negative reports, but that's only because the SyFyPortal report has been, as I said, re-distributed and recycled by a bunch of other sites with little new information to corroborate it.

The other two reports that have surfaced thus far are relatively positive in nature.
