Well, at least the Kiffin circus has ended. Now if he wanted to come across the bay, I think the Niners would welcome him with open arms. He has shown he's much better than Nolan.

Woudl you say that Kiffin has proved himself enough to land a job elsewhere, like eventually say St. Louis?

I kinda thought that, but .... so often a guy gets a taste of life as a head coach that he resists becoming an assistant elsewhere. Even if he really is better suited for that kind of job. Besides, this was his first head coaching job wasn't it? Seems like things have improved enough that someone else nmay be willig to take a chance on him. He's not exactly the typical retread.

There's a lot of talk that Kiffin might wind up running the show over at Syracuse, which would be a good way for him to land on his feet.

Otherwise, I would be thoroughly satisfied to see him replace that piece of shit Ron Turner in Chicago.

After his experience in Oakland, I can't imagine he'd want to take over another dysfunctional team like The Rams.

Yeah. He got this team competitive. Yeah he had a losing record, but the team was pretty much in shambles when he got there. He got the players working hard, and this team if they were more experienced could have won the last three games. I say give him another chance, and I would love it if he came across the bay and coached the Niners, firing Nolan and leaving Martz as Offensive Coordinator.

Agreed. He had a mess to work with, but it looked like he had them moving in the right direction. There's not a coach around that could've turned that team around without having at least a few more years to work with. That said, I don't see him getting a head coaching job anywhere soon: There's plenty of former head coaches with better track records working as assistants right now. I think Kiffin will get another chance someday, though.

If you're a Raiders fan, you know the only way they'll ever be good again is after Al Davis dies. The Cryptkeeper is a total joke whose run the team into the ground. Players and coaches only go there for the money or because no one else will take them.

And the BS that came out of his mouth was beyond pathetic. Yeah, the coach is so important to the Raider fabric of honor and integrity you go through them like disposable diapers. The coach is so important you promoted someone you know nothing about to the head job.

Someone on ESPN Up All Night said it best -- if you play as Kiffin on NFL Head Coach '09, will all the plays be greyed out because you're not allowed to call them?

That Al Davis press conference was surreal. It's like watching a messy divorce unfold in public. I'm sure both are at fault here, but I also think Davis is delusional.

Kiffin reminds me of a young Grudin. How many SuperBowl has Shanahan won since he left??? I'm a Chargers fan, and the Raiders are our blood enemies...but I liked the days when both teams were good. But until Darth Davis is gone, that team will have problems. And I actually think the Raiders have some good players..they just don't have a stable team.

File this under "Things to help keep life in perspective":
Jags' OT Richard Collier paralyzed below the waist, has leg amputated.

Sorry to say but that entire story is a bit fishy when it was released. Has there been any word on why it was a shooting because I thought someone shot down into the vehicle, not in a drive by but from a balcony?

The shooter walked up to the car and shot Collier. The JSO is certain that Collier was targeted specifically.

Unfortunately, this is par for the course for Jacksonville's northside these days. The city has the highest murder rate in Florida, and violent attacks are getting worse every year.

Agreed on both counts. Players need some sense of continuity in order to develop as a coherent unit. Changing coaches and systems every year is almost like starting over from scratch.

Oakland is 25th in stadium attendance. We live in an age now where its Win or Die.

I hate the Raiders, (remember the holy roller?) but I like it better when they are a force and not a weak team..makes the others play harder...I think the Raiders have talent, they just need to find a coach that will listen to Davis, hey its his team, and stick with him..

Rob

So you think the Raiders can be successful with a yes-man coach who receives calls during games from Al Davis telling him what outdated plays to run?
