Is "Star Trek: Myriad Universes: Echoes and Refractions" any good

I loved both books, and it turns out Gutted world might be my favorite; I came to it thinking it was a typical "Bajoran story" that we used to get on DS9 all the time.
I quickly found that it could be the Alt-Trek equivelant to a Tom Clancy novel.

A close second would be the 'Data Story': some of the material in it mirrors (haha, alt realty pun) ideas I had for various Trek RPG's that involved androids.

But all in all, I recommend both books highly, and eagerly await more Myriad Universe books! (rumor has it more are coming!)

please tell me my man geoff is coming back on that would be awesome! his thelin story rocked! Keiths was great too!

I can't say for sure, but knowing Marco, I suspect he's gonna go with three different authors for #3......

None of the authors from Infinity's Prism or Echoes and Refractions will be contributing to the third volume. Assuming we do more, the plan will be to bring in different authors for each outing.

Which means I'll never get to do my story that takes place in the parallel universe where all the characters are talking animals.

Woulda been cool, too. Captain Jean-Luc Pelican of the U.S.S. Enterprise takes the ship to Farpoint Station where Groppler Zebra has built a cool station, and the captain asks his new first officer, Commander William Raccoon, to check it out -- only to have humanity put on trial by the omnipotent being, Gnu.

Dammit. :scream:

^^Then Gnu freezes Tasha Yak, Raccoon bonds with Lt. Commander Dikdik, and Counselor Trout blubbers about emotions.

Seriously, I hope the MyrU series goes on long enough that the authors eventually get the chance to come back for more, since I have a new MyrU idea I'd really like to do.

I hope it goes on long enough for authors to come back because KRAD left room for a sequel to his story.

I loved both Myriad Universe books, and all the stories had something sweet about them, although the one I didn't like as much was the Data story at the end of Echoes and Refractions. But then again, I'm sure someone loved it more than anything in the world. Nevertheless, probably the sweetest thing I noticed in the Echoes, and in particular, A Gutted World, was Keith's description of Picard's experience at the Palais de la Concorde as a youth. Now, I haven't gone back to re-read it word for word, but when I read that chapter, I had this sense of déja vu...it's pretty much the same description he used to describe it in Enterprises Of Great Pitch And Moment. I saw it, and went, "freakin' sweet!". Sorry, couldn't resist.

Now that I finished it (awhile ago, just never got around to writing it yet), I too firmly believe that Voyager, had it gone along the route Christopher had proposed, it would have been a stronger series, and definitely one that would have kept my interest...I'm an okay Voyager fan, and liked a part of what I saw on television, but thought it could be a lot better. Places Of Exile did it for me. Sweet read!

Me too. In fact, as I said before, I hope it replaces the now gone Strange New Worlds as a yearly event.

I wouldn't mind doing a new volume of Myriad Universes every year, but we'll have to wait and see how things shake out. Infinity's Prism and Echoes and Refractions are off to a really good start, and the proposals I've accepted for the third book are quite strong, but it'll be some months before we can be sure if this experiment was a commercial success.
