why Adult Swim? WHY?!

Dear Lord, they canceled Toonami.....they are canceling an entire programming block after 11 years.....which used to bring so many of us our first intro into anime and scifi cartoons as after-school cartoons.....and which used to bring us ****The Justice League animated series**** as wellll......

....and they did it with only a day's notice? ONE day's notice? This morning they announce that they're pulling the plug TONIGHT?

Well in the hour or so remaining after I post this, they said there would be a "special on-air announcement" between 10:30 and 11:00 pm, so tune in for that just to see what the heck it is.

I thought the Code Geass thing moving to 5:00 was really a publicity stunt but apparently it has still been moved.

Wow....to think that the first week of September, i was literally going around saying "you know, now [adult swim] has really fixed itself as a channel; there's a good hour of action anime on saturdays, and the weekdays have now lost squidbillies and have shows I watch each night ***literally the only thing to make it PERFECT would be for weeknight anime to return as well"....

that was me first week of September

but now....wow. Well lets face it Toonami already wasn't what it used to be and as for Adult Swim, I just don't know anymore. Amazing the difference a month can make.

yeah... well somebody up there at CN aint too crazy 'bout anime.

doesnt mean they wont ever run anime again, but probably not in full hourly blocks like they used too.

I never did watch Toonami much, just for Teen Titans & a bit of Naruto. But I stopped watching Naruto recently b/c I coudnt stand all that filler.

Im currently getting my Code Geass fix at their website & that will have to do for now.

Well, there goes pretty much my last reason for watching cartoon network. (Even as a Star Wars fan I am having trouble getting into the Clone Wars).

Pretty sure they don't care since I am out of their demographic for everything but Adult Swim, and not a Neilson viewer anyways...

Bummer about Toonami now if only Sci-Fi would resurrect the animation station/cartoon quest to fill in the void.

Well if they had to end it going out with "bang" as said by Steven Blum is a good way to do it.

(Blum voiced both TOM and Cowboy Beebop's Spike, so having the same final line is kinda cool)

On weekdays, for a time and then about two years ago, they killed that. And then, for the past year or so, they've been slowly killing Toonami on Saturday nights.

So they have been putting the once proud Toonami name to that saturday Naruto/One Piece filler block i keep ignoring? lets see Miguzi=Epic Fail Toonami=murdered by Bobobo-Bo-Bobobo Adult swim=barely hanging on after the Introduction of tom goes to the mayor 12.0z mouse Tim & Eric and Saul, got that about right?

Something i noticed is that Saturday's adult swim line up is now the same as Last Sunday's lineup, WTF?

Cartoon Network is trying its best to be like Nickelodeon and Adult Swim wants to compete with Saturday Night Live and Mad TV.

Anime has an audience, but Adult Swim wants more than just anime fans on Saturday nights. And on Cartoon Network proper, Toonami was just pulling in the wrong demographic they wanted since they started skewing towards the coveted 6-13 age group a few years ago...

Well, at least the anime liscensing/distrobution market is back on it's feet now with Geneon and ADV releasing things again. So even if you can't watch it on CN there's always other networks like the Sci-Fi Channel, and IFC, and of course DVD releases as well.

but Zakku- IFC and skiffy are niche channels, alot of people skim over them, with adult swim you have anime running with proven shows like family guy, but hopefully with the Return of Geneon, we might see Tenchi again

Well, if they were getting good ratings, though...why ruin a good thing?
