What Other Sci-Fi Boards Do You Visit ?

What's wrong with talking about fan-made items? It's part of being a fan for some people. If you don't want to talk about it, just skip that thread.

Nothing and I do.

Hermiod, you sound like you really want to talk about specific comics, etc. but few other people want to join you. Since forums depend on interaction to be successful and you don't seem to get much on your favorite topics -- why not use some of your space/bandwidth and do a blog? There are lots of hosting services, both free and paid, and you could talk about whatever you want. Depending on how you configure the reply/subscription settings, you could have your comics discussions without worrying about stuff you don't like cluttering it up.

I can easily set up Wordpress on my site, it's just a one click install on Dreamhost, but it'd be nice if somebody was actually going to read it. :)

The DS9 mods run a tight ship? :wtf:

Must be our trained replacement gnomes...:rommie:

Hey, you keep the "DS9 ripped off Babylon 5" types out for a start.

In my experience, it takes about five minutes to set up a basic blog. It takes a bit longer to decide on what the first post should be, but that's part of the fun. Why not give it a whirl and see what happens? You'll never know if you don't try.

Well, that's a joint effort between myself and Neroon. About 3 or 4 years ago 'the DS9 mod' and 'the B5 mod' decided that nothing good ever came out of those discussions and so yeah...we don't allow that crap to get too far before we cut it off. On that particular issue, Neroon is sort of a defacto DS9 mod and we keep in close contact whenever a thread like that springs up.

Fortunately, most of the DS9 fans and B5 fans who have been around for a while have come to agree with our position....and so usually it's a new person who starts up with the next round. ;)

But anyway...that's really the only topic I keep such a tight hold on.

Never really thought of DS9 as a 'tight ship'. I mean, it's not like I have ever passed out a bunch of warnings in there or anything.

this was really my big experiment for visiting a sci fi board.

previous to this i would have considered it all a waste of time. Considering the conversations i seem to be having, i'm back to thinking its probably a waste of time.

the only other sci fi board i visit is 'Star Trek Star Trek Starship Tactical Combat Simulator one' it's just as friendly as this one and had very little if any trolling

I visit Starscape BBS

We're a Star Trek, Star Wars, BSG message board.
Quite a few people from here visit it as well. Why don't you stop on by?

J.

J. Allen, I tried to go by and visit your board, but it looks like you can't even view threads unless you register. Is that right?

That is correct. It's something I'm changing as we speak.
Everyone should have a chance to get a taste of whether they'll like it or not without having to register.
Although there are some threads you can't see, like the lounges and the general discussion fora.

Plus, I forgot to add some fora for the guests to view and read, like the new BSG forum.
That's all taken care of now. I'm glad you mentioned it!

Hermiod, you could try Flare Sci-Fi Forums. It's a nice place, even if the inhabitants are a bit witty at times. :) It's the first board I joined, a few months before I signed up here. I've only been posting here for a few months though ( dispite being registered since last fall).
