The Earth is Flat. Deal with it.

To the person above who noted this, yes, it is entirely possible that the Earth is cylindrical with the bottom rocky section jutting out.

Sorry, if I missed any question. If I did, please just point them out like Scott but please also make sure that you're not asking a question I already answered.

The sun and moon circle the Earth at a height of 3000 miles at its equator , located midway between the North Pole and the ice wall (which is why that area is the warmest part of the planet and further away it gets colder). Each functions similar to a "spotlight," with the sun radiating "hot light," and the moon "cold light" for lack of a better term. As they are spotlights, they only give light out over a certain are which explains why some parts of the Earth are dark when others are light. Their apparent rising and setting are caused by optical illusions. Depending on the time of year and where you are located, these spotlights will be in different areas. This is basically the same theory that exists in mainstream science though where it's the Earth moving and rotating in there, it's the sun and moon that do so in reality.

Sounds like this "elite" group is the one to be in. How does one go about becoming a member?

Since the force that accelerates the Earth upwards cannot be invisible (because that would be silly), where might I see it? Also...

The same visible force that moves the Earth in such a fashion as to simulate gravity must also be acting on the sun and moon, to keep their fixed 3000 mile distance above the Earth. However, I can't see the visible force acting on these two bodies. Can you help me to locate it?

Einstein was obviously a founding member of the conspiracy. Duh!

We have already postulated that a band can create the necessary driving force and that Van Halen (original lineup) may be the only one powerful enough to push the Earth. Since the sun and moon are smaller, require less force and (in the case of the sun at least) definitely older, I'd say Glenn Miller is a distinct possibility. :techman:

    Oh come on...that's just silly.

    A "cylinder"

If you're not going to take this seriously maybe you should be posting about fake science over in Trek Tech.

I'm afraid my participation in the Trek Tech forum would result either in a ban or a seizure.

I'm pretty sure that if the distances on the southern hemisphere were several times longer that those shown on the map people would notice...

7 of 11, any views on that?

It's the GPS. And sunspots. Always the sunspots. Damn things won't leave me alone!

Of course! But not a founder member, obviously. The conspiracy must have been around long enough to have bribed Newton so he'd invent that gravity idea...

Would you like this controversy about Earth's roundness to be taught as well?

There is no controversy about evolution among the scientific community, nor is there controversy about global warming, or indeed about Earth's roundness.

This doesn't make any sense at all. That's like me asking you what visible force makes the Earth rotate, what visible force makes the moon revolve around the Earth or the Earth around the sun, what visible force makes the galaxies move in the universe? The notion that such a force would have to be visible is what is silly.

I've already talked about this issue— flights are controlled by autopilot which will make a trip last longer or shorter depending on where people are going. If you're going from Argentina to Australia, then you'll go straight there with the jet engines at full power but if you're going from the US to France, their going to cool their jets and might not go there in a straight line either.

Of course, because tripling the cost of a flight to the airline makes perfect sense. Why didn't I see it sooner?

Aeroplanes have existed much longer than autopilots. And what about ships? Or a car trip through Australia?

But where be the dragons? They should be round the edge, shouldn't they?

Don't be silly. Dragons would melt the ice in no time.

You're the one that said that the notion of an invisible force called gravity is silly. Why is that any sillier than whatever you propose is keeping the sun at a fixed position above an upwardly accelerating Earth?

I may have missed it, but can you explain exactly why the 'elite' must hide the truth about the Earth's flatness? It would seem to require a great deal of work without any obvious benefit.
