How about the Shakespeare poem about Zefram Cochrane getting into an Aesop-inspired spaceship race with a Rigellian Chelon: "The Phoenix and the Turtle"?

Well, I'm really glad I asked now. Thanks a lot, Marco!! Definitely looking forward to this one.

I hadn't realised TNES had been mentioned on DS9 itself, I must go and watch the The Wire again.

Wow! This is going to be exciting! I have some hunches as to why Season 2 was picked, but I'll keep those to myself, but I am curious: will the events of The Lotus Flower be followed up on towards the end of The Never Ending Sacrifice? I liked that story, and thought it to be very subdued yet powerful in its delivery. I liked the idea of Cardassia pushed to the brink of destruction, and that in order to move beyond destruction, the Cardassian people had to be willing to give up their old tendancies, for they learned just how much those old tendancies led them to their breaking point. I also have some idea who this character might be...and it'd be neat to see if I'm right (which I'm doubtful). My money's on Alon Ghemor.

Given that Una McCormack wrote The Lotus Flower, I think it's a fair bet to say that there will be follow-up on that.

Alon Ghemor's the first one who popped into my head. Akellen Macet and Natima Lang are possibilities as well.

And if you REALLY want to go out on a limb...Glinn Daro. I know we haven't seen him in the novels yet, but there was something in the way he acted during "The Wounded" that suggests to me a lot was going on inside his head.

While all of those guesses sound good (although I can't quite remember Glinn Daro because it's been years since I've seen "The Wounded"), an idea came to mind as I finished up Dawn of the Eagles last night (actually early, early this morning): What if this character is an Oralian? I thought of this because during my reading of the Terok Nor trilogy with its the indepth exploration of the Oralian Way, I began to wonder more and more about what they were up to during the series. This book might be the answer to that query.

And that's the other idea that popped into my head. Considering we just had a MAJOR revelation about a certain character's last name and religious status, I think he could be the narrator.

And could somebody tell me how to do one of those "spoiler" buttons so I can spill the part from Dawn of the Eagles about who it is?

Oh...as for Daro, he's that glinn that tried to talk to O'Brien but got blown off twice.

Just type your text, then highlight it.

Above the window were you type your message there's a series of icons. The last one of those (the smilie with an x as the mouth) is the icon for the spoiler code, just click on it, enter in the pop up what the spoiler is about (for example "Dawn of the Eagles") and confirm.

    OK, here goes...

Now that we know Glinn Thrax Sa'kat is a prominent Oralian, he could provide an excellent vantage point from which to narrate The Never Ending Sacrifice.

    Thanks, guys!

Yeah, I thought of that person specifically, too, but didn't want to mention that person because it's a major spoiler, nor did I want to break the flow of my train of thought with the clunky spoiler code. :p

Hope not, I don't to have a never ending sacrifice for my sanity. Seven years and three-and-a-half books is enough for now.

No, but he isn't absent from the story. Neither is Garak.

:bolian: Wow! I've been hoping Una would write another Ds9 book. Glad to hear we'll finally get to see more history about Cardassia and the Dominion war from their pov.And postwar timeframe all in one novel.
