Is "Star Trek: Myriad Universes: Echoes and Refractions" any good

I just got through Inifinity's Prism and I loved the stories.

But when I saw that there was another Kahn era story in the new one I got worried. I understand that his character brings a lot of possibilities but did they really need another set so soon?

If anybody has an opinion (WITHOUT SPOILERS PLEASE) on the stories in this one is appreciate hearing them since I am on the fence.

There is not "another Khan era story" in E&R.

There is a story that takes place during the TOS movie era. It has absolutely nothing in common with "Seeds of Dissent."

If you enjoyed Infinity's Prism, you should equally* enjoy Echoes and Refractions.




*I personally believe you should enjoy the first story in Infinity's Prism more than any other, but that's just me....

It is a very well done book. If you enjoyed the first, I am pretty sure, you will enjoy this one as well.

If you're referring to "The Chimes at Midnight" being the other "Khan-Era-Story: It has nothing in common with "Seeds of Dissent" and is one of the best Trek-Stories I have ever read. If you liked "Infinity's Prism, you will love "Echoes and Refractions", which in my opinion the better one of these two marvellous books.

Oh yeah, there is that.

I like them both equally, and personally would like to see a Myriad Universe book be a yearly thing from now on since Strange New Worlds is over.

And even if they don't (which I don't expect), I am looking forward to volume 3.

So it seems like there is a consensus that this is a worthy read and that I need to read more than the first few words of a story summary on amazon.

I am not sure I am ready for that many at once. I'll have to work my up. I'm an engineer so I need to take baby steps. And test after each one, then think about it a little bit and try again.

i definitely recommend it! i liked it better that IP The outcome of ONE thing being out of place set everything out of motion from the way it happened on screen was brilliant! and i do think that both volumes had equally dark stories

I only picked up Echoes and Refractions today so not tremendously through it yet, but I am enjoying The Chimes at Midnight so far and did anyone else get that the UFP Defense Sec Mack Kane who I think was named after Mack Taylor from CSI:NY and Horatio Kane from CSI:Miami or was that just me?

Today is my birthday, so I was able to finally able to get my hands EaR and Kobayashi Maru. I'm hoping to start off with A Gutted World later today, because that's the one story out of all six that I've been the most anxious to read.

I've only been able to get through the first chapter of A Gutted World so far, but that chapter was pretty good. I'm still reading Seeds of Disent right now, and I've been focusing on trying to finish that up first. I also only read a little bit each day, so it takes me at least a week or two to get through a book.
