A Singular Destiny

Man of Steel

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I don't know if this is accurate or not but here's a synopsis on what this book's about:

A new Federation President has been elected, and his first order of business is to attempt to restore the alliance with the Klingon Empire. To that end, he sends Captain Picard to Deep Space 9, in the hopes that Picard's relationship with Chancellor Gowron might lead to a normalization of relations. At first, things go well, as Gowron agrees to meet with Picard and Captain Sisko of DS9 on a neutral planet -- but when their runabout is shot down, it's up to Commanders Worf and Data to find out the truth before their captains are killed!

It sounds ridiculously inaccurate to me.

Gowron is dead, for one thing.

It is an accurate synopsis -- but not of A Singular Destiny. :)

It is, in fact, the "cover" copy for the final eBook in the TNG: Slings and Arrows miniseries, Enterprises of Great Pitch and Moment, which was released six months ago.

And, you know...Data, too.

Where'd you get this?

Borders.com

And never read that. When will that mini series be out in print form?

Wow - we were all wrong - Mack isn't killing everyone, he's bring them all back to life! :techman:

I always love when people put stuff like this up on places like Borders and Amazon. You'd think they would have somone who would check to make sure that they are actually posting the right stuff.

I figured Keith was just gonna write the same book twice. If it had worked once, why wouldn't it work again?

It worked for David Eddings! He just reused the plot from one book in another and had the characters (who were children of the characters from the original) say "hey this all happened before!".

Seriously? Was he a major deadline or something?

I don't think so - he just wrote a narrative around it saying that cycles would repeat until the golden age occurred (it's been at least a decade since I've read it). The thing I most remember about the book is how ripped off I felt.

Isn't that how Cardassians like their novels? Except it's multiple iterations in the same volume, I think.

^We've been told that the repetitive epic is the most elegant form of Cardassian literature...but that's only one Cardassian's opinion.

is A Singular Destiny more of an epologue to the Destiny storyline or like the final chapter of it? Will reading any of the TNG or Titan books set AFTER those events require reading Destiny to make sense?
