The Night Crew

Well, she ought to at least watch the one!

I made a point of not watching Doctor Who at the same time as her and my sister after the first episode.

Hey, I'm a classic series fan myself! And certainly it has changed. But is it really all that different to Peter Davison's era? Flashier, yes, but ultimately still Who!

I dunno, there's too much "We must stop [insert celebrity villain of the week] from finding the Eye of Zorax or whatever MacGuffin we're chasing around Cardiff after this week".

Your inability to adapt has been duly noted. :p

I just believe that flexibility has more useful applications.;)

Firstly, there is nothing "lowly" about being a children's presenter! I fell in love with LeVar Burton not as Geordi LaForge, but as Mr. Reading Rainbow!

I meant lowly as in not paid very much. :D

Secondly, Poor puppy.

I think her name was Miss Moneypenny.

Lastly, I didn't know he was a children's presenter. I bet he was fantastic at that! -- he seems he would be.

It wasn't Sesame Street, it was your typical Saturday morning shouting a lot with kids screaming in the background kind of show.

Here it is.

and now, for something completely different

who thinks that the stanta-fe construction code is completely illegal

deal...

you know the human colony leader in "The Doctor's Daughter"? my accent's similar to his...only not as strong.
Hmmmm...I haven't watched that episode in a while. What accent is it specifically? I can recognize Sheffield, because I had a friend as a kid who was from Sheffield, and I can distinguish between RP, and your general Northern and Southern English accents, and Welsh, and of course Scots and Irish accents, but beyond those basic distinctions I'm not great... Well, actually, I think that's very good for an American! I'm at least as good as I am with the various American accents.

Oh, I'll just have to watch the episode again. That way, when I picture you as a vague mixture of Ewan McGregor, David Tennant, Clive Owen and Danger Mouse, I'll know exactly which accent to give you.

Ahhh...to each their own, I'll have to say. I can see where your coming from, but I just look over that stuff the same way I look over the wobbly sets and special effects of the old Who.

Do I detect an innuendo?

Ah ha!

That was the kind of show I was imagining, and thinking he'd excel at hosting. He just seems like the kind of guy who'd be a great kid's show host.

I like to read Elmore Leonard type mysteries. Although they are more comic crime stories than mysteries though. Carl Hiassen and Ben Rehder have some good stuff too. I have a whole stack of books I'm going through.

Old Who had a story occasionally. :p

Me ? Never! :shifty:

I don't think hosting a live children's television show on Saturday mornings (even though he was only the "third" presenter) was all that compatible with his other career - that of a West End musical star - so he disappeared fairly quickly.

I drove 2 hours to visit my best friend today. I am currently on his computer. We got drunk while watching the Republican National Convention.

Sarah Palin is hot, but I think she's crazy. I would love to see a Palin vs. Obama campaign in 4 years.

Anyway, drunk and sleepy...good night!

I haven't read any of these. My mother is very keen on the "Pendergast" stories -- I think they are called, I think they're sort of fantastical mystery stories. She gave me a couple but I haven't read them yet. My friend really likes the Harry Dresdon books, which are about a Wizard PI, and I read the first out of devotion, but I didn't think it was that great. Although I did come to tears while reading the climactic scene: I just couldn't get my mind out of the gutter when he talked about his muscles convulsing out of the strain of forcing so much power out of his shaft.

As does the new, and some wonderful ones at that if you'd give them a go!

Do I detect an innuendo?

Hm...guess I was imagining it then.

I'd imagine so. I did know he was a musical star, though of course I've never seen him in any. Sadly, the only two musicals I have ever seen were "Aida" on Broadway (which was with a school group, and which I wasn't so enthusiastic about), and "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", which was off-Broadway, and brilliant.

I tried! I really did! I even managed to sit through that god awful season finale we just had.

Hm...guess I was imagining it then.

Hmmmm, flexible and imaginative...

Despite the fact that my mother's main two interests are the two M's - Musicals and Murder Mysteries - I have only seen Rocky Horror (with Antony Head), Chess and Singin' in the Rain.

Barrowman, I think, was doing Sunset Boulevard at the same time as Live and Kicking.

Now he just judges people in the BBC's daft "Win a Part in a Musical" shows.

and hosts "The Kids are Alright" where a bunch of adults try to best a bunch of pre-adolescents in a trivia quiz.

well, he was from Bristol, located in the "West Country" region, whereas I'm from Gloucestershire, which is in the same area, but further north.

and as for being a 'vague mix of McGregor, Tennant and Owen', I can only wish I was so good looking...

That's it then. I'll just have to give you each a big sword and you can have a duel.

Eh. Nah, that's alright. You can have each other. I got laundry to do. :D

Didn't expect that, did'ya? I'm like the ending to No Country For Old Men. Now give me an Oscar. :shifty:

My day started incredibly early today, as I spent the night at my friend's house 2 hours away, and he had to get up for work at 7:30 this morning.

So I was on the road by 9am heading back home, and when I was roughly 5 minutes away from my house, the person in front of me slammed on their brakes and I hydroplaned and spun out. My car locked up and I couldn't move. I was faced the wrong way in the middle of a very busy road, oncoming traffic kept swerving to avoid me. I called 911 and the cops blocked off the road, and everything eventually got sorted out. My car unlocked itself and drove home. It was just a lot more than I was prepared for, and it freaked me out a bit. Luckily, the only victim was a construction cone.

It was kind of funny, actually. The 911 lady and the cop that eventually arrived were so concerned about my safety, even though physically I was perfectly. I just wanted them to get out of the way of oncoming traffic! This was a major road. Cars were coming at me at 55 mph!

theres a game cafe opening up soon near by (hasn't played halo 3 online in a year, is getting...testy)
