Knight Rider 2008 Series SPOILERS

^ It's entirely possible though that KITT was nonfunctional and his memory banks unavailable. We did see him in pieces in the miniseries.

Yes, but I believe KITT had the formula stored in his data files. On more than one episode he would explain to someone, "I have a molecular bonded shell which is made up of..." and then the camera would cut away. Also, when Garth Knight created Goliath, he had stolen the formula and for all we know Garth is not dead.

True, however we don't know where KI2T is. Also, just because you know what something is made up of, doesn't mean you know how to produce the end product. Take baking a cake. Sure there's eggs, flower, baking soda, sugar etc. in there - but if you don't put them in the right amounts you don't get a cake, you get mush.

That said, I'm actually wondering how they'll deal with that if at all. Personally I think a good compromise would be saying KI3T has the nanobots, BUT that they generate (or are made up of) material using the MBS formula. That way it explain his morphing while also giving him the bullet proofing we all know and love.

^ Um we saw what appeared to be pieces of KITT (including a transam) in the 2 hour movie in the lab.

True, and I remember the pieces; however, we don't know if he was dismantled or destroyed and dismantled.

I would think that Wilton Knight would have been savvy enough to store the makeup of the Molecular Bonded Shell in KITTs database. The creators of Airwolf had done so, calling it a sort of DNA in a cryptic message that Hawke and Dominic had deciphered and did indeed discover.

That kind of infomation wouldn't last very long in the lastest version since KITT was hacked into, that kind of infomation would be outed very easily. The idea of spreading the formula out among three different people was to ensure security and with the three dead now no spinoff of the series has ever had the shell, so I think it's gone now.

Well if anybody remembers how Team Knight Rider ended we know what happened to his AI.

KR08 doesn't use any previous spin-off since this series as continuity. It follows its own continuity, using only the original four seasons as its past.

Still, you make a valid point in that the AI was shown in TKR as being able to be separated from the "body" of the Trans Am, which makes sense. I suspect KI2T's AI will wind up serving as a plot point sooner or later. It's sort of like the elephant in the room that they'd be silly to ignore.

There was an episode in the original Knight Rider where KITT's AI was separated from the car and survived.

Was that the one where Michael found KITT's brain by picking up some kind of psychic vibes that led him to it? I always hated that. It was lazy writing, throwing in a magic fix rather than making the effort to come up with some sensible way for Michael to track it down.

Kinda. KITT was hacked into by a super smart kid (IIRC, using a Commodor 4 :lol:) and when he and Devon went to the kid's house there was just a bunch of boxes in the garage. That's when Michael "felt" KITT's presence.

He's The Hoff, you know

I thought Michael faintly heard the strob of KITT's scanner or AI in the garage.

Nope, it was scripted and played as Michael just "sensing KITT's presence" through some kind of intuition, as if they shared a mystical bond or something. Besides, KITT's brain wasn't connected to his scanner anymore and wasn't making any sound.

I wanna see what happened to KARR. He should team up with Garthe Knight. It would be great to see The Hoff driving the Trans am again.
