Otherf than David, how many children could Kirk have spawned?

I was talking to my brother in law about the new Trek moviethat is a prequel with a young Kirk. And the question was asked, "Other than David, I wonder how many kids could Kirk have produced?"

I told my brother in law that the guys over at Trekbbs would know, and he said "Yeah, I bet you are right. They would have all that stuff memorized"

"Ah yes, the Kappa Quadrant," said Spock. "Where the entire population of 6.02 times 10 to the 23rd descends from James T. Kirk."

During the adventures depicted on screen, we only got evidence of three counts of sexual intercourse: with Carol Marcus to give David as per ST2:TWoK, with Miramanee in "Paradise Syndrome" (but the mother and child died), and with Deela at gunpoint in "Wink of an Eye" (with every indication that, if the biologies were compatible to begin with, the child would be carried to term). That is, during TOS, Kirk never voluntarily engaged in sex, as far as we can tell.

In "Bread and Circuses", Kirk's enemies offered him the services of a slavegirl, but Kirk would have had every incentive to refuse. And in "Elaan of Troyius", he managed to resist the temptation of Elasian pheromone tears. He was generally a very private person, readily using his charms to manipulate women in order to complete his Starfleet mission or to protect his ship but seldom engaging in relationships otherwise. The jury is still drinking over the issue of whether "Requiem for Metusaleah" falls in the category of seduction-to-save-the-ship or represents a rare, indeed almost unique case of the Captain actually having a crush.

The older Kirk of the movies apparently had relationships more freely than the TOS era hero: we saw Gillian from ST4, and heard of Antonia at some point in the past. No sex with the former, tho, and one would think the issue of children would have come up when Kirk relived his days (years?) with Antonia in ST:GEN if that liaison indeed resulted in any.

Assuming he did engage in sex many, many times, I'd like to think that by the 23rd Century, birth control is a little bit more reliable than today.

How many times was he shown having sex? Of course he could adopt.

That might explain a few things...

Kirk: "I swear! The kid in the brochure looked like a poor South American girl."

Kirk could have spawned almost as many children as Shatner could have spawned during the run of TOS.

Kirk and yeomen? I don't think he as much as said a complimentary word to any of them... Despite the rather pathetic pleading from some. And it took a neural neutralizer to have him agree to an almost-kiss with Helen Noel, which should tell us something.

Frankly, I think the man had serious issues with, you know, issues.

As many as Thomas Jefferson had with Sally Hemings -- in other words, a lot!

No, seriously, I think Timo's answer is the most correct one so far.

It's been forever since I've seen Mark of Gideon, but didn't he and Odonna....?
Yoeman recruits? Wonder how kirk didnt get hit with sexual harrasment lawsuit or they do nt have those laws in enlightened society?

Odona wasn't a member of the crew. She was an alien.

And I don't see Kirk, or any other captain worth their salt, having flings with yeomen or any crewmember of that low a rank. While we know that fraternization, as such, is not illegal in Starfleet (as long as it's consensual for everyone involved), most captains wouldn't want to even make it *look* like they're taking advantage of lower ranked crew.

Babaganoosh: I agree. Ironic, since the Great Bird was such a casting couch whore! :guffaw:-- RR
