Sci-Fi,...at it yet again...

Just was watching Stargate:Atlantis tonite and saw that Sci-Fi has picked up and is going to show LOST. Now WITF besides some sort of fantasy does this slowly declining show has to do w/ science fiction?!??!??! :wtf:

No. I was never that much interested in it when it first came out. And just like some other shows that have been (ad)ded to death as i.e.; Sienfeld, Everybody loves Raymond, Ugly Betty, and I can go on.... But that is not the point. As in wrestling, what does this show have to do with science fiction?

The Sci-Fi channel deals with more than simply science fiction. It also does a lot of fantasy stuff too. I think Lost definitely fits the mold with regard to that category so I do not see an issue with it showing Lost.

time travel, teleportation, psychic abilities, smoke monster, communication with dead people, disappearing island...

All this takes place on an deserted island w/ 40'ish survivors(+)? no wonder it never caught my eye.

Lost is definitely part science fiction. As was mentioned, it contains a lot of time travel and supernatural occurances. I don't think you get what kind of show it is. Understandable since you've never seen it, but it's a show that is best described as a sci-fi drama.

Um...what zenophite said. If you had ever seen the show, you'd know it DEFINITELY has science fiction and fantasy elements to it.

Time travel, communicating with dead people, a giant monster made of black smoke ---not exactly run of the mill stuff.

How can you say it's declining if you've never seen the show? Anyone who is watching it will tell you that season 4 was absolutely mind-blowing and the best season YET.

And, people in their 40s? Actually, there are characters in their 20s, 30s, 40s and characters in their 50s. It's a fairly diverse bunch.

Considering that two of LOST's characters can timetravel and communicate with the dead, I'd say that LOST is firmly scifi. The show did begin more like a drama, though, and more and more scifi elements surfaced in the show as the years went by.

What, is your viewing restricted by the ages of the characters on the show... ?

Ageism and making uninformed opinions on a show you've never seen. You win.

I think he was actually referring to the approximate number of survivors from the crash of Flight 815.

Lost is just as much "Sci-Fi" as anything else on the network, it just doesn't like to be called that.
