Sorry to burst your bubble Claxxon...this isn't one of THOSE kinds of post...

I was at the STAR TREK EXHIBIT just a couple weeks back here in San Diego. First off, it is worth the money, so if you have a chance to see it then I think you should.

Anyway, they have the Gorn that Kirk fought there. And you know what? He isn't as big as he seems on TV. I was ready to go toe-to-toe with that sleestac-wannabe but, then I realized, its just a dummy prop. But also with him was a Jem-Hedar. Again...I was not impressed.

The only one who really impressed me? When I was at the STAR TREK EXPERIENCE earlier this summer and was at Quarks. One of the 'working people' was a very sexy tall woman dressed up like a KLINGON. Now she? She intimidated me. I was hoping she'd engage me with some Klingon mating ritual but it wasn't to be.

What 'non-cgi' Star Trek alien do you think looked the most intimidating and would still look so if you were to meet them in real life? And if any of you say Baylok I will kill you!!!

If we learn one thing from Trek, it's not the size of the package or what it looks like but what's inside! And canary's come in more than one color.

Not always alien but I find the kids the scariest, especially the ones who seem trustworthy but aren't, often because of their immaturity and unpredictability. The kids in TNG "Unnatural Selection", TOS "Miri" (Jahn gave me nightmares as a kid), VOY "Nemesis" etc.,

I actually had a similar experience at a PA convention quite a few years ago. My late father and I were in a line next to a woman dressed as a Klingon. She was pretty foxy, to a degree that perhaps rendered it surprising that she would dress up as a Klingon and go to a Trek convention.

At that age, I responded to her aforementioned foxiness and her impressively displayed cleavage by clamming up. My father, clearly charmed, had no such difficulty.

I wasn't the only one intimidated, it seems; a small train of dudes dressed as Klingons followed her around and stood awkwardly and silently near wherever she stopped, clearly hoping their outfits would be enough of an "in." I remember reflecting that such behavior was unfitting of the warriors whose costumes they were wearing, and if I'd had the stones and been dressed as a Klingon I'd have hammed it up and come on to her Klingon-style in front of God, Leonard Nimoy and everyone.

Later we noticed she seemed very taken with a nerdy-looking (but cool) guy who made and sold very high-quality Klingon edged weapon replicas, and they stuck together for the rest of the event (and perhaps beyond--who knows). She was taller and looked like she could probably beat him up, but he spoke well and had awesome red leather to wrap the weapon grips in and everything. Perhaps this is one way to a Klingon female's eight-chambered heart. :grin:
