great actor - terrible shows/movies

Which actor who you like do you think makes more bad films that good?

I'm a fan of George Clooney but at least half of the films of his I've seen just stink.

Right now, Bill Murry.

I miss the guy who did Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, The Man who Knew to Little. Lost in Translation, Life Aquatic, and some of his other recent stuff have been awful.

John Travolta. I don't necessarily like him, but I think he is just fine as an actor. Yet I can't stand anything he's been in.

Mandy Moore isn't anything special as an actress, but she's attractive with a screen presence and could probably do great in the right role. But she's made one stinker after another for years now.

Same with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Christopher Walken has got to be the guy. The guy proably doesn't even read the scripts by now when picking films. I also think Sandra Bulluck has basically tossed her career away by doing one boring chick flick after another,just like Meg Ryan.

I should have mentioned Lance Henriksen. He's a phenomenal performer, but he likes to work to the point where he won't turn down a good paycheck.

Neal McDonough. He was mind-blowingly brilliant as David McNorris in the short-lived "Boomtown." He was even memorable as the creepy sidekick in Minority Report.

But his last few projects? Walking Tall, I Know Who Killed Me, The Hitcher, Timeline......BLEH!

Only the "Tin Man" miniseries gave him a good role, and there he got shoved to the side more often than not.

For God's Sake, someone give him a decent role. He gets 4th billing in the upcoming The Traitor. I hope he at least gets a few good scenes.

My stock answer to this question is always Samuel L Jackson. Did one good movie in the shape of Pulp Fiction, and apparently decided that was enough for one career. He appeared in xXx for crying out loud!

Caleuche, I agree about Jackson. He'll do some great work, and then follow it with absolute crap. He's the new Michael Caine.

Ben Kingsley, of course.

The man's an Oscar winner and has been nominated several times for Ghandi, Schindler's List, etc. and yet he's appeared in "A Sound of Thunder", "BloodRayne", "Suspect Zero", "The Love Guru", etc.

Will Smith.

He's had maybe one or two good movies, and several lousy to mediocre ones.

He can act when given serious roles, but rarely takes them (instead opting for silly type movies).

Eddie Murphy: Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America, Trading Places, and Bowfinger were all good, but for every good movie, he seems to make 5 or 6 total pieces of crap.

It seems like there's an "Eddie Murphy in multiple roles" movie every time I go to the theatre. I have friends that love this crap. I think he's full of himself if he has to play more than one role in every fucking movie other than Dreamgirls.

Cuba Gooding Jr - deservedly wins an Oscar for Jerry Maguire, then proceeds to make nothing but bad movies for the next 12 years.

John Travolta. After the Grease/SNF days, his career bombed because of terrible career choices. Then Tarantino resurrected him with Pulp Fiction. And ever since? More terrible career choices (with the odd goodie, like Get Shorty)

Kevin Costner. Not the world's greatest actor, but watchable enough in the right movie. Sadly, of late, there has been little but the wrong movie.

Eddie Murphy. Ok, can be annoying, but who doesn't find 48 Hours, Beverly Hills Cop or his turn in Shrek hilarious? But when you think of his recent output ... best not to think of it, now you mention it ...

I feel the oposite towards Clooney. I don't think he is anything special as a actor but ever since he learned his lesson from doing the crapfest called "Batman and Robin" I feel like he has done alot of good movies. In fact the only ones I can say I didn't like would be the "Ocean 11" movies.
