Really Dumb Convention Questions!!

Hey, it was not a bad questions to begin with, and after a few of the questions that followed it kept sounding better and better. The one that bothered me the most was the person that made the opportunity to ask a question more about a chance to draw attention to himself.

BY THE WAY, WHERE THE HELL ARE ALL OF THE SOMBREROS??? I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE!!!

My girlfriend has a sombrero pin on her Enterprise cap. We brought a small one but I, too, am appalled at the lack of sombreros here.

FWIW, I did like your question. It spoke directly to the character of Q.
The Q&A mics may be first come, but the are at the front of the stage. And since all the intelligent people are in the cheap seats in the back of the room... Well you do the math!!

I was a bleaxher bum for every con except thisine and you are correct, most of the idiots are in the Gold Seatsn howevern what I discovered is that if you get up there like 5 minutes before the guest is set to go on stage you'll be in good shape for a question... even if you're in the cheap seats.

BTW: Thanks for the kind words and I'll try to do the rest of fandom proud by continuing to either ask poignant questions or knowing when to shut the hell up. I'll also be doing the TrekBBS proud by wearing my friggin' sombrero today.

Went on the Klingon Encounter last night and it broke down twice!! Other than that it was pretty cool.

Yikes...some of the crazy things you guys are reporting are part of the reason I have reservations about ever going to a convention. I mean... <-- (I love this little emote too much.)

What I think I'd like to ask, though, if I ever had the chance, would be if the actors are aware of how their characters are being depicted in the relaunch novels and (if they are) what they think of it. I'd especially like to ask Marc Alaimo about the revival of Gul Macet...

Do you ever sit down and watch an episode of your show when it's broadcast, to see what the finished product looks like?

Or, to someone who's acted and directed:

Is it difficult to enjoy the movie experience as a viewer, especially where there's sfx, after you've acted with so many people in the genre and have seen how those effects are made?

Yes somewhere in a box in our closet is a picture or three of Majel with a giant lizard on her head.

I am SO tired of, "Can you tell us about all the practical jokes you played on each other on the set?"

Because everyone knows a working set where every minute wasted costs thousands of dollars is just a circus all the time.

And believe it or not, for some (many) of them, it was just a job. Don't expect them to have fangasms about it like you (or I, lol) would.

I was at Grand Slam a few months ago, talking to Gary Lockwood in the autograph room. We were having a nice conversation with a friend about 2001, and how they filmed it, and stuff like that. A fanboy came up and asked "In Where No Man Has Gone Before, if Gary Mitchell had all those powers, howcome he couldn't move that rock that Capt. Kirk dropped on him?"
Gary Lockwood answered with the quote at the bottom of my signature. We nearly peed ourselves from laughing so hard.

I also think it's ridiculous when fans start recomending Star Trek novels for them to read.

Of course, there's always the old, standby: "Can I give you a hug?" I also remember the two women who asked to sing to DeForest Kelly. For his part, Kelly, the classy gentleman he was, took it in stride and did seem to enjoy it. Personally, I was embarrassed for them.

I had that shirt! I wore it to tatters years ago! If it's the one I'm thinking of, it features several stylized Starfleet officers looking off into the stars all noble... Creation made it years and years ago. I used to work in their one and only retail store in Glendale, CA

I read a complaint from someone on a forum about the dogs and I thought they were being a bit too hard. Now, not even half way through my first and maybe only large convention I'm already tired of the dogs. So were a lot of groaning people around me. To me it seems a bit selfish to take time away from the thousands of people wanting to hear the celeberties just to say "Hi, remember me and my dogs? ..." Especially when you have to hear it more than once in a day.

I've noticed that the bigger the celeberty the worse the questions get, and the more people getting in the question line for their own attention.

Pretty much nails my whole take on the day. It was like watching the biggest train wreck. I love how Sirtis, Spiner and Wang handled backhanded comments (e.g. "You looked horrible the last time we saw you but today...) And yet another appearance with the dogs. Someone call the SPCA!!!
I can't wait to see the car crash that will be the Brannon Braga segment on Saturday!!!
Watching the Q&A with Majel was downright painful and Majel looked really tired and disconnected.

I've never had lunch with Trek stars before. We got tickets for tomorrow and Sunday. What a great idea, getting to meet the celebrities as they circle around to each table!!
They were all very gracious and it was a more personal experience.
I'm having a great time, getting to meet fans and stars. I got to meet a fellow BBSer with a Sombrero!! How cool is that?

I wondered about the lunch thing. The one I considered was the Enterprise lunch because of the restaurant, but the timing is all wrong. Photo Ops with Jolene and Nichelle get in the way.

I left just as Majel entered the stage after getting tired of the VERY long, commercial like presentation by her son. Even from a distance I could tell she was really out of it. I also skipped Garret Wang and his signature and instead went to the auction where I bought a Dominic Keating banner with signature ticket as a surprise gift for my on-again off-again girlfriend. (Yes, even in the late 40's relationships can be tricky.) Now I am wondering how to get it back on the plane. At least that is an instant move to the front of his autograph line tomorrow. I plan to have him and Connor sign a Shuttlepod One script. Since they sign at the same time, on different sides of the stadium, on my busiest day, that benefit of jumping the line is better than anything.
