You've heard about all those Fantasy/Sci-Fi Games over the years and probably haven't even played half of them. Which one in your opinion had the idea, the best graphics, the best music? Or maybe the graphics were simple but it had a great story and the gameplay was magnificent and addictive

I don't mean to be rude but what the hell is Master of Orion III doing on this list ? It's awful in comparison to Master of Orion II.

Halo and JK2

JK2 is the most perfect Jedi SW game. JA is slightly better graphically, but it's far too sabre-oriented in MP and the story suffers in SP from its non-linear nature.

Halo, cuz, it's Halo and so damn pretty.

I'll put my hands up and say guilty if you ask me if I've even played a fraction of these :alienblush:

I've played Halo and the first Galactic Civilizations both are very different but very entertaining :techman:

got most of these from a search engine, hence why I don't know much about them all and thought MasterOfOrion-III out ranked the other MOO versions

MoOIII is a just a mess of statistics. It takes an absolute age to do anything. MoOII is a much more entertaining game.

^ agreed MoO2 is a far better game. Also, where is Birth of the Federation, as many folks around here have played that too.

I had to analyze Galactic Civilizations II in class a while back. That game's interface is absolutely terrible. No one in the class could figure out what we were supposed to do and none of us cared, either.

As a game designer, I'd say that game is loaded with FAIL.

I voted for Doom.

I went with Command & Conquer (the whole series), Halo, and Sins of a Solar Empire as all excellent games.

Portal?
but since i didnt see portal on the list, i chose starcraft.

also, how is zelda on the list of greatest sci-fi games?
smash brothers seems like a bit of a stretch as does goldeneye.

^ Funny you say that because those are the only three games on the list that I've ever played (Zelda, Smash Bros., and Goldeneye). I guess you can see how into scifi games I am.

Voted for GC2, but would have thrown a vote for Sins if I had noticed it in the list.

Other games I'd consider would be KOTOR, Total Annihilation, Freespace, Freespace 2, X-Wing, Mech warrior/commander

I said Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. But there's another of his games omitted from the voting list: the science fiction scenario of Lalande from Civilization II: Test of Time. It's a multi-level Civ map consisting of the main planet Funestis, the Orbital Platforms, the rocky moon Naumachia, and the gas giant world of Nona. There are four human-based civilizations and three alien ones. You can play either human or alien, but one thing you cannot do if you want to make it to all four worlds is kill all the opposing civilizations. There is some tech that humans and aliens can't discover by themselves; there comes a time in the game when they need to cooperate, or they can't advance.

Out of that list, Deus Ex and StarCraft. Pretty easily.

As much as I love the Civ games, I never really took to Alpha Centauri.

It does take some getting used to. Civ II: Test of Time is my favorite, though.

I've got the novels that are based on the Alpha Centauri game. They made a lot of the game mechanics make more sense to me.
