I agree too. Eccleston was awesome!!

I realize that I may be in the minority but I quit watching Doctor Who about the second or third Tennant episode. I find him terribly annoying and terribly unattractive. I've tried to watch a couple here and there just to check and yep....still annoys the hell out of me.

I completely agree. Except that I do blame the actresses for the way we perceive their characters. They didn't need to go so overboard.

It's been several years since I last watched Babylon 5, but I do remember thinking that Byron was nice to look at, and I'm a sucker for an accent. I was actually jealous that his hair is much nicer than that of most of the women I know. What annoyed me about the telepath storyline was how only Byron and Lyta ever had any lines (well, so did Talia). The rest of Byron's group just sat around and looked at them, blank-faced and dumb-looking, like human-shaped furniture. Even in the episode when they telepathically eavesdropped on Byron and Lyta's lovemaking.

Marcus could never annoy me...

Kai Winn was one of the Most Annoying Characters on DS9 -- especially in the episode where she and Keiko clashed over the Wormhole Aliens vs. Prophets (science vs. religion) issue at Keiko's school. I figured that Kai Winn should just shut up -- if the kids wanted to (or their parents wanted them to) learn the religious angle about the wormhole, that's what the Bajoran temples were for.

I found the entire concept of LEXX annoying. I hate the music, and the ship looks like a giant mosquito. Whatever else I ever saw of it was just revolting.

I see all of the above (except Adric and Christopher Eccleston) and raise you Mel, with the voice that could strip paint.

I find Captain Jack boring, annoying, and just plain worthless. I could never get into Torchwood, period. I don't like Tennant's Doctor, or the new Companions. Actually, I haven't really liked any of the Doctor's Companions since Grace (Eighth Doctor's Companion in the TV movie). And before that, I didn't like any of them after Tegan and Turlough.

But Christopher Eccleston was wonderful... and FANTASTIC! :bolian: He made an excellent Doctor, and if you've ever had the chance to see him in the first Elizabeth movie (he played Norfolk)...:drool::drool:

I haven't seen any of Tennant's last season, and only one or two episodes, ever, of his Doctor. His run just annoys me that much that I haven't watched them and I just don't care. The only episode I wish I'd seen is the one with Sarah Jane, because I liked her.

Other annoyances... the entire cast and concept of nuBattlestar Galactica. Really, if you're going to mess around with the original this much, just call it something else, because it certainly wasn't authentic Battlestar Galactica.

Oh, and for me, the Most Annoying TNG/DS9 characters ever? Worf and Jadzia -- separately and together.

I so agree! And his hair was much prettier than Byron's too.

You obviously have great taste in men! :techman:

    Abso-fraggin-lutely!!!:techman: :techman: :techman:

I so agree with you on Worf! I loved DS9, but his arrival on that show ruined it for me.

I disagree with Shannon from Lost
Maybe the girl playing her was a good actress but we won't know as the writers really messed up the character from day one
yes she was annoying, yes she was irritating and yes she was a stuck up bitch
I don't watch Lost much but I know Shannon isn't the worst because at least Abrams and his Lost writers had the sense to kill her off before her incessant whining took over the whole series

Unlike other show's where the writers never have the sense to kill a crap character off,
as far as I'm aware the crap character Chloe appears in every season of 24 and never dies, Scrappy Do should have been murdered Itchy&Scratchy style but alas it was never to be, the two idiots in Battlestar Lee Apollo, the Blanders guy and Kara Starbuck wrecked every subsequent season of reimagined BSG, Wesley Crusher only exists stage left in the final season of TNG while the JD idiotic character poisons every episode of Scrubs

I'm not suggesting Ecclestone is not a great actor, he's one of our best, it's just a shame his character in Doctor Who as written was so annoying.

He should have died the instant he set foot on the station. Otherwise, I agree competely. :bolian:

I'm still watching but I simply don't get the appeal of Tennant at all. That manic, over-the-top, "OMG I'm a Who fan living out the Best Fantasy Ever!!!" schtick is beyond annoying. And skinny dweebs just do nothing for me. To each their own, I suppose.

    Works for me. :bolian:

    Mmmm...Marcus...

As for nBSG...another show where I found the characters boring beyond any attempt at description rather than annoying.

Eh, to each their own. I thought she was a whiny, annoying bitch, but YMMV. Sawyer makes her seem acceptable, however.

Do Italians run around shouting "fantastic!" all the time.

A standard Ecclestone Who scene consisted of:

Doctor: "We've got to use the trimorphic bobulator to stop Xorax from getting the Eye of MacGuffin!"

    Rose: "The wha..."

Audience at Home: "That doesn't make any sense ?!"

Doctor: "Fantastic! No time to stop!"

(Cue montage and awful musak showing Doctor and Rose running around a lot)

"But Horshack is a very old and respected name! It means 'the cattle are dying'."

Because of that, I always pictured some Eastern European farmer wandering the towns crying 'HOR-SHACK! HOOOORRRR-SHACKKKK!!!'

Thanks. I will try and check these episodes out and see what happens. I'm sure I will like anything that you consider to be a good Gwen episode. But it would take a miracle for me to stop disliking Owen.

Of course, for many of us, the 'original' Battlestar Galactica was annoying and lame...so this one is quite the improvement, even with it's faults.

Give me Baltar and Six (the most annoying characters on unBSG IMO) ANY DAY over that annoying little whiny-ass boy and his stupid robot dog.

RDM made his version of BSG for adults. Not for 6 year old kids. And that in itself is an improvement, as far as I'm concerned. These shows are geared toward different audiences - one was geared for adults and one was geared for children. And I ought to know - I WAS one of those children.

It's like comparing TAS to TOS. Going for a different demographic grab.

You can like nuBSG or not...that's cool. But pretending like the first show is the only one that is 'authentic' (which apparently translates to "not annoying") is just painful. Because there is PLENTY wrong with that first show too - and plenty of annoyances. The issue is whether one prefers the adults version or the 'family' version of these events.

Ooo-kayy... that sounds more than just a LITTLE condescending and judgmental, not to mention INSULTING.

I was not six years old the year Battlestar Galactica premiered (the real one). I was in high school (Grade 11). And while I thought some of the concepts in the show were simplistic pseudo-science, at least they made sense in the context of the show itself. As someone who was a teenager in the '70s, I don't mind the '70s fashion concepts. I enjoyed the series music. I thought Richard Hatch and Dirk Benedict to be beyond cute. And even the annoying daggit saved everybody in the episode where Athena, Boomer, and a bunch of children were trapped in a fire aboard the ship. And Boxey eventually grew into Kent McCord, so what's the problem?

I really did try to watch nuBattlestar Galactica. Really. But the moment I saw the completely modern clothing (as in something I'd see on the street if I looked out the window of my home), I wondered if some character there had been checking up on Earth like the Squire of Gothos, to spy on our current fashions. You don't expect aliens to look exactly like us for no reason whatsoever -- I mean, suits and ties?!

The pointless reversing of the gender of so many characters also lost me. Starbuck is not female. Starbuck is male. The other characters who reversed genders should not have done so. Baltar is supposed to be an evil, chuckling meanie, not a messy twit who keeps hallucinating about supermodels.

I would also not suggest that the Animated Series was for children, thankyouverymuch. Try watching "Yesteryear" and tell me that was meant for a 6-year-old.

It's my right to say I found the entire cast and concept of nuBattlestar Galactica annoying. I also think the people who made this mess just ripped of the BSG name and juggled a few characters around because they were too lazy to come up with something original. 'Cause this isn't it.

To be fair, I don't think there's a single remake of a book, TV series or movie anywhere that hasn't changed at least one character's gender or ethnicity. Even the new CGI Captain Scarlet had Lt. Green as a woman! Ultimately though, I don't think it matters so long as the actual character is fundamentally the same.
