What Other Sci-Fi Boards Do You Visit ?

Why was this thread moved. We were talking about Scifi and now this thread might die since not many people visit the websites forum. There are times when I even forget we had a websites forum.
I think it's obvious. The thread may as well be locked now for all the discussion it's going to get. I can't recall ever having visited this part of the board before.
The thread was moved because the topic was about other science fiction-related message boards, as in other websites. The Websites forum is the logical and appropriate place for such a thread. Considering a pointer URL remains to redirect posters to the new location, any post from a moderator saying the thread is being moved would simply be superfluous and as pointless as Hermiod's constant whining about imaginary persecution.
Oh for crying out loud, this is the second time today you've interfered in something that is none of your business.
As this thread's creator, it's about what I decide it's about, not you. Either post something useful, like as list of other forums you visit so I know what ones to avoid, or go away.
Um, posting a quite possible and entirely valid reason for why this thread was moved is now "interfering"? Wow, I must be as invasive as Batman's super-sonar computer in The Dark Knight.
You are hilarious. I know it's entirely unintentional, but I thought I'd let you know anyways. We should all be willing to praise others for their talents, as unexpected and unforeseen as those may be.
If you can't handle people saying things you don't like, then I suggest you reconsider interacting on the Internet.
I really don't care what your opinion of me is. You clearly have no interest in contributing positively to this thread so please leave.
I understand and appreciate that, but it was a good place to talk about not just other forums, but about that forum itself. Maybe my posts were off topic, but I felt it was an appropriate place I felt to talk about the scifi forum being so busy and maybe thinking about adding a few more subforums to it. I guess it was more a personal disagreement about why it was moved than anything else.
I can handle it just fine. I would just like to know how anything PsychoPere has said can be construed as an answer to the question "what other Sci-Fi boards do you visit ?"

Which is not a positive or useful contribution. I am asking the mod who moved it, not him. Every time I've seen a post moved the mod explains why first.
I was having a fun conversation with Temis and a few posts later it's back to a free-for-all and there's no reason for it. Why can't things just be left alone ?
Oh, I wouldn't say you were off-topic. You had some reasonable points about the consideration of subforums, and I say that as someone who has opposed the creation of a comics subforum when the issue has been raised in QSF in the past. It's just that the thread as a whole, given the original intended nature of the topic, belonged more appropriately in Websites than in SFF. We could call the SFF mods almost anything we care to, but throwing things out of their forums on a whim isn't their typical modus operandi. Some decisions just don't need a lengthy post explaining why it's happening, and I think that's why a mod didn't take the time to post "hey, this is being moved to Websites for such-and-such reason."
While I sympathize with your concerns.....yes, Atlantis is having a terrible amount of problems and did not deserve to be continued.
Well, actually, season 5 is doing pretty good: Robert Picardo is a good actor; but if someone was going to replace Weir, it should have been him initially: I mean Carter simply didn't DO anything; I got to the 20th episode of season 4 and realized "wait...you didn't plot a single thing for that new character to do?" Whereas Woosley has "conflict" and "depth"; he plays off the other characters well.
But the killing off/not killing off Beckett thing was just cliche and manipulative and stupid; I mean they ANNOUNCED that Becket "is not going to really die but is coming back next season" ...even BEFORE the episode he "dies" aired. Yikes.
As for "Ford"; also a debacle; I kind of like Ronan though. Shepherd is a O'Neil clone, and as for Teyla....during the 3rd and 4th seasons I played a game of keeping a running count of "did Teyla talk in this episode?" or "did Teyla just have throwaway dialogue that McKay or Ronan could have said?" (yes to both). The joke the actress made was that haha, I got pregnant so they'd have to write me a storyline for once....but that actually sounds literally true. Regardless, Teyla's at lest got something TO DO now instead of being "hot silent looking space babe who has eyes for Kirk" ugh
****My point is, not to be heavily critical, but MOST shows ***Do not get FOUR FRAKKING SEASONS to "find our footing". Most shows get cancelled by then.
Weir was just never an interesting or engaging character. I know there are some diehards who will argue against this but I didn't like the actress and I didn't like the writing....then again only so much you can do with bad writing; now even the actress just plain doesn't want to return to the show (thankfully) as its not worth it. I really grew to hate it how....Weir didn't say or do anything amusing, she'd like say "well, Shepherd, you sure just came back from that mission".....acting as if she made a joke people were supposed to laugh at when she just said basic "statements" in a sarcastic voice. It was...odd.
Anyway, I would say that by season 5 they're doing better than they HAVE done but...remember when this was advertised as the "Darkter, More Adult Stargate"? It turned into the children's stargate.
The first season was actually really good. Trapped away from Earth.
Seasons 2 and 3 flat out stank. The Wraith just didn't turn into interesting enemies because they INTENTIONALLY NEVER GAVE THEM AS CHARACTERS, to the point of never giving them NAMES.
Michael the Wraith was a step towards curing this, but as some critics have pointed out, even he is getting a bit "more of the same", though he was good in the cliffhanger.
And what happens when you need a new enemy besides the Wraith? Uh...."bring back the Replicators!"...more of the same. At least with Weir gone for good due to the actress not wanting to be back, we won't have to deal with that again (hopefully)
Okay, so the problems were "Ford underdeveloped" and I must say Ronan fixed that....and "Weir stinks" and they failed to fix that with Carter but I DO think they succeeded with Woolsey.....albeit going into year 5.
As for the doctor....Jewel is a good actress but she just seems out of place and tacked-on. Plus the handling of the Beckett thing was just odd.
Anyway....YES, the show has fixed many of its bigger problems, but I've got a feeling of "too little too late"; its not a "new" show anymore in SEASON FIVE.
but I digress....
as for Trek, I think a lot of the negativity around Voyager and Enterprise is gone, in the sense that we've simply said all we can say. A lot of time has passed since TATV (ugh) and the Dark Year when there simply was NO NEW TREK at all planned (about a year later JJ Abrams came on board Trek XI so we started thinking about new stuff again).
Actually, I hope Trek Xi reinvigorates Trek stuff.
Nonetheless, this simply hasn't been a good time for scripted live-action television. Movies survive in decent shape because they're one-shots, but TV series need to gut themselves to get high ratings by becoming "family-friendly shows" or "dumbed down shows that middle-america will want to see more than a smart show"
So there simply hasn't been much to talk about.
I mean literally the only good "new" live-action shows were Pushing Daisies and Terminator SCC.
This new season looks better; I like the look of Dollhouse and Fringe at least bears mentioning (advanced reviews hated it though).
Sadly, Jericho is gone, but Heroes has infinite possibilities.
As for Battlestar......yeah. Season 3 got hurt by the strike but then season 4 recovered almost everything.....but still, it doesn't have the tight internal continuity it used to; I mean I'm happy with it, but it was more fun when it was "small arthouse show that no one knows about" in 2005, before 2006 when it was "lets get the cast on the cover of magazines and whore ourselves out trying to appeal to middle america who doesn't understand the show anyway" (er, the series itself didn't do that; I mean the whole cult of "wow BSG is great!" by folks who have only seen it casually...you know, the shippers and whatever).
Caprica looks bloody awful. The trailer actually made me want to watch it LESS, and if RDM doesn't stay involved (which he probably won't) why bother.
RDM's new show "Virtuality" seems more promising.
Nonetheless, in terms of "scifi boards"....my point is there just isn't much to go to because most current stuff stinks.
TelevisionWithoutPity is VERY inclusive, to guard the fact that writers/cast members are willing to come on, but they've taking the policing too far; to the point that you often get thrown off literally for *disagreeing* with the mods. It was fun in the Enterprise days when TWOP was "funny and subversive" but its become too "institutionalized".
To be honest.....why should we be talking about shows that stink? If there's no good scifi we shouldn't be wasting our time online. That's how I think of Stargate these days.
Oh, and Doctor Who is of course great, but they're going on a one year break.
