(though I can't speak for Coombs as he died on 9/11 and I'm not aware of his work, but I love Jeffrey Combs' performances.)
I disagree on all these actors, I think they are very good and not ovarrated. At least, they were very good in Star Trek, most of the time.Patrick Stewart
Brent Spiner
Colm Meaney
Robert Picardo
Connor Trineer:
The Guy Who Played Phlox:
The only Trek actors who deserve praise are: Levar Burton, Rene Auberjoinois, Armin Shimmerman, Jeri Ryan, Jeffrey Coombs and Andrew Robinson.
I totally agree, she is the worst in all Star Trek.I'm casting my vote for Jolene Blalock. It's not that people are in awe of her acting... but I've heard people speak of her as if she could, you know, act.
I think Picardo is a lot of fun to watch (on Trek and on Stargate).Robert Picardo: ... So annoying.
It's Trinneer. And I strongly disagree. Connor's delivery is natural and his instincts for how to play a scene are excellent. He uses his face, body language and interesting vocal inflections to create a character that is consistent and fun to watch. Even bad lines sound good coming from him.Connor Trineer: Zzzzz.
That would be John Billingsley. Again, a very good actor who is always able to deliver a solid performance and convey the full range of emotions, even when buried under prosthetic makeup. The Guy Who Played Phlox: See Robert Picard and Brent Spiner.
Wow. Incredible. This franchise has managed to survive for more than 40 years with only 6 capable actors. The only Trek actors who deserve praise are: Levar Burton, Rene Auberjoinois, Armin Shimmerman, Jeri Ryan, Jeffrey Coombs and Andrew Robinson.
I very much disagree. I thought she was a breath of fresh air for VOY. I never detected a misstep in her performance. She arrived as a detached automaton, and yet managed to create a fully-formed and sympathetic character, conveying vulnerablility, curiosity, honor, anger, fear and attachment.I think Jeri Ryan's somewhat overrated; she suffers from Voyager fans hailing her as God's gift to the acting craft. She's quite good, but not an unparalleled thespian.
Jeffrey Combs on Wikipedia: On September 11, 2001, a man named Jeffrey Coombs (note the extra 'o' in the last name) was aboard hijacked American Airlines Flight 11, which was later crashed into the World Trade Center. Having been confused with the passenger on the jet, Combs the actor was pronounced dead by news media outlets and had to announce publicly that he was still alive.(though I can't speak for Coombs as he died on 9/11 and I'm not aware of his work, but I love Jeffrey Combs' performances.)
Incorrect
Another tipoff that Combs isn't dead: He appeared in episodes of Enterprise in seasons 2, 3, and 4, all filmed long after 9/11. And he's going to be at Creation Vegas next month!Jeffrey Combs on Wikipedia: On September 11, 2001, a man named Jeffrey Coombs (note the extra 'o' in the last name) was aboard hijacked American Airlines Flight 11, which was later crashed into the World Trade Center. Well, if you think she is "somewhat overrated," you're still saying she's overrated. She arrived as a detached automaton, and yet managed to create a fully-formed and sympathetic character, conveying vulnerablility, curiosity, honor, anger, fear and attachment.
That's why I said "somewhat overrated," and not "wildly overrated."
I stand by my statement. She was accomplished, not masterful.
Well, if you think she is "somewhat overrated," you're still saying she's overrated.
I don't think she is.
