Seasons 1-7 $85 ????

From their faq: "9. What is the Region, Audio, Subtitles of the DVDs? All our DVDs are region free and NTSC/PAL format compatible."

As soon as you see "region free", you can assume you're dealing with pirates. Argh!

I'll say it has me curious as well. The Paramount logo on the side gives it a measure of credibility, but were the DVDs not region coded? This is region free, which leads me to doubt.

Of note, they are in Hong Kong. So says the 'contact us' thing.

I do happen to own one of the items listed on their site. The Akira Kurozawa set. While the picture quality is great, there is only the original japanese voice track, and the english subtitles were... well... obviously not made by westerners. All in all, I still thoroughly like the dvd set, for the price I paid (which was from another HK store).

While language might not be an issue here... be cautious...

Keep in mind that shipping from Hong Kong for 7 box sets (the picture sports a box number) will be as much if not more than the items... :P

Thx guys. There are all sorts of prices out there on this. I'll post some more if they appear to be from more reputable sources. I just don't want to pay like $250.00. I'm a bargain hunter.

Yeah keep us updated on your findings. I'd certainly like to find a complete DS9 set for a reasonable price, specially considering that DVD is on the way out...

$250 for 178 episodes...that's $1.40 per episode. Not exactly dirt cheap, but you'll rarely find a better price legitimately.

Well, deepdiscountdvd.com is a great site. I've used them for years and they are very competitive. I was just shocked by these prices and I thought I'd check it out. DDDVD.com has great customer service as well and the shipment always comes quick.

Here's their prices on DS9 and TNG.

Once every few months, the price at Amazon.com hits $34.99 per season.
I suggest you just wait a bit for their next sale.

That's what I did three months ago, when I bought all of TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise at once.
When that big box full of Trek arrived at my doorstep, I was so excited I almost barfed.

What do you mean by they're on the way out? I've been meaning to pick up the TNG and DS9 sets soon. Probably will wait for the Amazon deal which hopefully will come around soon.

Do you guys think this is for real? Looks too good to be true to me.

I got curious enough about those to email a Paramount rep around a year ago. They are definetly confirmed 100 percent bootleg. No such thing as region free or "asian edition" Trek. Some of the sellers are smart enough not to put those catch phrases anymore, but that box pictured is exactly the same edition I sent a link to Paramount about.
It's almost a slick package, until you start to wonder: why are there no graphics? No Enterprise, no Picard/Data etc. What the heck does "Chosen Collection" mean? Loses something in the translation from Chinese, probably closer to "Stolen Collection". :)

"Stolen collection"! haha!

Thanks Captain. I figured as much. I've seen the TNZ set for as low as $260. If it drops another 20-30$ I'll grab it.

I can assure you that the set is definetly a bootleg set. I have a voyager set like that. I bought it used for 250 dollars and the guy said it was region one and everything. Strangley it took a lot longer to ship it. Which it came directly from hong kong. The guy must of payed most of the shipping costs since it was 3 bucks for me. In the end we send a very angry email and they refunded are money and didn't give us a return address. I bought a nice 21 inch lcd screen with my money and watched my bootlegged voyager set on it. I can tell you the quality isn't worth it though. I believe they tried overburning the dvds and it causes corruption on the last episodes on each disc. Which means the end is cut off. So no I would not buy those. Also $250.00 is really cheap for the tng sets. Most of the time their like 350.

What do you mean by they're on the way out?

I mean that DVD prices are dropping like crazy as the new Blu-Ray format will take over the market soon enough, and they want to get their stock off their hands progressively to replace it with... well... Blu-Ray, while still turning something of a profit.

Go to your local store and check out the prices of stuff. You can get the 2 DVD edition of Space Balls for 5$ in certain places, or two DVD edition of movies like Dances with Wolves or Once upon a time in the west for 6$.

The fact that Blu-Ray and HD-DVD battled for a while for supremacy as the "NEXT GENERATION" format gave the DVD some respite, but now that HD-DVD is out of the way, look out for DVD to get "phasered" out.

But that won't effect TNG for some time, as it opens up the remastering can of worms. The DVD edition of that series will probably be the latest greatest for some time to come.

Just look for the torrent of it
You can get em all there

:cardie:

The illegality of the proposed action aside, some of us actually prefer to own officially licensed products. If only for better quality and the fact that you don't have to watch it on your computer, it is worth it.

It also tells Paramount that there is still an interest in Star Trek, and that it is still a viable franchise. You don't want XI to be the last installment of this legacy do you?

Definitely bootleg copies however if you are looking for the complete series you can get it from play.com for 119.99 or you can buy individual season from base.com for 17.99 each both sites have free uk delivery.

Thanks Gaius,

Translated into dollars it's about $240 plus shipping. Not gonna work as I'm in Connecticut, USA.

Very nice that you would take the time to hook me up though!
