It's okay. I preferred the more lonely S1-3 version to the upbeat 4-7; but both were good. I wouldn't put it on a pedestal above criticism, however; nor do I consider it better than TNG's or VOY's. Dennis McCarthy can be bland, but the DS9 theme was certainly one of his better efforts in Trek. Doesn't make him Jerry Goldsmith, though.

Strange, I never heard anything other than praise for the DS9 theme (both versions).

Persoanlly, I liked the original version, but the newer one was good aswell.

Weak, unrememberable and a major disappointment in all modern trek post TNG S3

Musically, nothing wrong with it. But it's too fast, upbeat and dramatic for a) such a slow movie and b) a talky and diplomatic TV show.
